Today I learned Neil Gaiman is writing a new Sandman comic, a prequel to Sandman 1. I am so geeking out about this I can't even stand it. It's been a while since I read all my Sandman books; this will be a perfect reason to read them all again.

Today I got a new apartment. Moving in a week. Moving also means new furniture. Awesome. Between that and the party tomorrow night, it looks like it's gonna be a good weekend |
Today I ordered a new Utilikilt and think this is more for my wife than me... :D
|
Bryan, you moving far? What hood?

The weather for the Pitchfork festival just got interesting.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7263/7...0010b807_z.jpg Rain by kazbo, on Flickr I don't mind the rain, but the lightning strikes like once per minute are a bit disconcerting. I guess I'll wait a bit before biking over there. |
Yeah my commute home just got ugly. Brought my detachable rear fender though. Kinda figured this might be the way the day went. Funny, it rains like once a month here lately, but it likes to wait until I'm ready to leave work... |
And yeah man, so much lightning! I haven't seen lightning hit so rapidly in a long time.

I just like to keep the nasty road funk skunk stripe off my bike. Not concerned with water from above so much.

Today I busted a spoke on the way home somehow. It was a rainstorm ride but there were no incidents that would cause a busted spoke??? Lots of jerkwad motorists who thought it would be fun to try to get around the massive lines of traffic by pulling into the bike lane and just sitting there. I made sure to give all of them the stink eye as I slowly worked my way around them and said "thanks, thanks a lot!" with a sarcastic smile.
So the bike is in the shop. They said I'll get it back today most likely, couple jobs ahead of me though. Bummer. Want to be out riding now that the rain stopped... |
Finally got a tracking number for my Dolan Pre Cursa that was ordered the first week of June!!!! I hope it was worth the wait.
|
LessonLearned: Moving about a mile north and two blocks west of where I am now. Edgewater -> Rogers Park. Also, broken spokes blow. I popped two in my rear wheel one night last fall. **** sucked.
|
Well these are my stock wheels so I guess it was bound to happen sometime. I never had them serviced.
The good news is that they trued up the wheel too and now the bike seems to ride better? It wasn't way out of whack before but it must have been off. It was the rear wheel, fyi. PS- The Bike Lane rules. Dropped it off with them and they had it back to me within the hour. |

Nitto risers. Or were you looking for something more specific?
|
Today I:
Today, I have been riding my new townie FG all over town. I woke up early to meet my friend at the bikerowave. I helped him complete his touring before he has to set off for Europe. A nice morning working, wrenching is always pretty fun when there is no work pressure. Later, I dropped a pair of Campy shifters I owe my co-worker.
If only the weather were better! I need that arid desert climate. |
Today I applied for several dozen jobs. Gimme $$$.

Snuck into Comic Con today. That went well.
I also got some Adventure Time socks, Castle Crashers figure, original 1974 Alice in Wonderland posters, Mouse Guard signed print, a sweet t-shirt with batman riding a unicorn, and and Asylum poster with a ton of autographs from their actors and directors. Gaming wise, I played some mario kart 7, some new transformers game, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, Sly Cooper, and saw some of the new Assassins Creed. To top it off, we saw 15 minutes of the new south park game. It's going to be pretty amazing, folks. I like it here. |

rode my big block for the first time today, about 25 miles. initial thoughts: can't believe the big frames come with 165mm cranks, the cheap tires are very noticeable and will be my first 'new' upgrade, and the frame feels great. Very early in the game but started to see what the hype was all about with the way it felt and handled the road, even on some meh components.
my left foot comes unclipped way too easy on my time atac clips, don't know if its the shoe or the pedal, was not a good feeling |
ive had that a few times, Trying to do a quick stop with a skid and POP out comes my left foot flying up lol
