Had a work meeting, ate a really, really badass burger with bacon and cheese :

Then realized I need Ultegra Di2 in my life. I made a small recording while playing around with it at a shop in SF :

Just reminds me of my old RC car days, playing with servos. The action is so precise and clean on these things. I always doubted the purpose of electronic shifting, but in watching it happen in real life, the quick solid shifts are just too cool to hear and watch.

Cables obviously work just as well... but I wouldn't mind rigging my bike up with Di2 :)

Only way I ever actually pulled the trigger was a semi-impulse buy; I was riding down Milwaukee Ave with my old bag dangerously overpacked and digging into my shoulders when I passed the Chrome store, so I made a quick u-turn and bought one that day. But I could easily have spent another month making pro and con lists.

Yeah I had a Chrome Ivan but quickly gave it up because it wasn't really for me. A bit plain, shaped weird imo, and not enough organization. You have to know what you want and understand what you realistically need, then make a decision from there.

Add Zipp 404 firecrests to that list. Epic Schwinn's technium is kind of a "nice to have." The others, I require.

On another note, I'm glad I didn't crash my bike and destroy some Di2 components. The Ultegra 6700 was expensive enough.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Did you ever get the chance to see a mission workshop?

Not in person, but I looked them up a lot. TBH the Timbuk2 looks to have better features, more organizational and efficient features I want in a rolltop, side strap for u-lock, etc. I was heavily leaning toward a Rambler or Sanction (Possibly a Fitzroy) but I heard they don't appreciate sweatbacks.

CC700 did an excellent review on the Rambler also!

EDIT: A nice bag is one of the last things on my list though. A helmet, new saddle, clipless pedals and shoes, and a front brake is on my somewhat URGENT list.

Oh yeah, they aren't really great for ventilation. My 10 minute ride every morning at 7:15 gets me hot enough you can almost see the sweat.

That makes me want to explore ortlieb, actually. It's always good to have more than one bag, I guess.

i want

Original release, loose ball c record BB that's most likely some 20+ years older than these cranks themselves; yes the design has been out for that long.

On another note; it's pretty peculiar the undersides of the cranks are absolutely blank; no inscriptions of length or model or make; just a tiny sticker w/ a QR code & some #'s

still love my rambler, still live in cool climate.

Bonesy, it isn't letting me quote, but once you get your bike together let me know. Maybe we can get Misskaz to come out too. She's rad. Also, I got tattooed over a sunburn, and then my sunscreen wore off. **** blows. I work near your 'hood. I'm at Northdown. Lincoln and Ashland. Come say hi and get drunk.

WAT. Need pictarz. Seems pretty awesome.

Random fact. I know a guy that paints his toenails. Completely straight. I asked him why he did it, and his reply was "I hate the way my toenails look otherwise" hahaha.

Maybe he had toenail fungus. LOL.

This pic is from the weekend when I first did it. It's chipping now, so I'm taking it off. I need to do a poker cards themed manicure for my bike race Saturday anyway.
