There is so much wrong with that statement that my head almost exploded.

Oh, dude, I quite literally started laughing out loud when he said that.

Seriously. Oh well. I'll bounce back. I always land on my feet eventually.

**** food. You deserve better whether you're at the counter or behind it. They don't deserve any of your hard earned money or the pennies you find on the ground. National chain eateries are all like that.

I personally can't stand risers on any bike that gets ridden primarily on the road... that slow entrapped feeling inside you that grows and gnaws at you while you ride.

yummygooey 07-25-12 10:07 PM

So commuters with risers are a no-go**********??

LesterOfPuppets 07-25-12 10:10 PM

Risers and flats good for about 2.4 miles of road riding for me.

yummygooey 07-25-12 10:17 PM

I would riser bar my sw8 fixxay all day long in a city environment.

LesterOfPuppets 07-25-12 10:22 PM

I made it 6 miles on a SS with Noah's Arc clones tonight. Doin' the reverse trip tomorrow morn, maybe even more if I can take it.

I still wished that bike had drops, thought about taking the 2-mile dirt diversion route to add spice but was feeling too wussy to hit trail after work.

Today I edited and uploaded from pictures from my Seattle trip.

Today I went to a new lbs that opened up and was looking for a new lock, for an evolution mini they wanted 78.99, I laughed and when the girl told me I should just get a cable lock with a combination because they're safer I decided I'd go to my regular store tomorow.

cc700 07-26-12 12:19 AM

that's a great price for a NYC lock.

sure you're not colorblind?

i tore a combo lock apart with my hands the other week just to prove to a customer they shouldn't buy it.

seau grateau 07-26-12 01:20 AM

Today I stopped in at a Performance shop on a whim because I was driving by. Found a Profile Design T2 Wing bar on clearance. \m/

RGNY 07-26-12 05:29 AM

got up and it was raining pretty hard. supposed to all day. had planned on driving to work, but then the wife just gave me a look like "who are you kidding?".

zoom. throw work clothes in my bag, grab the Ridley SSCX off the peg in the garage, blinkies, clip on rear fender and i'm off.... . got a little damp, but everything i'm wearing to ride is nylon or poly, so it'll be dry in an hour. love that woman.

also going lock shopping tonight. reading reviews online, but want to see stuff in person. keep hearing about how Krypto keys are junk and just stop working, but that's still probably what i'll end up with, likely a 7", as it can get pretty interesting around here finding something to lock to. just need something solid for deli/coffee stops, not overnights.

nuhtowel 07-26-12 06:17 AM

Krypto keys are junk. They get bent up and stop working right after a year or so depending on how much you use it. A friend of mine locked his lock onto his bike on his way to work, and then he couldn't unlock it to get it back off, so he was stuck with a big 'ol U-lock on his bike until he was able to cut it off.

Today I have to present at lab meeting, which is lame, but my boss is on vacation so theres no pressure.

I'm also really sick of being at penn state, even though I hate football, all this crap in the news and everybody sharing their opinion to me about stuff I had no involvement in is getting annoying.

LessonLearned 07-26-12 06:36 AM

Between the wife and me we have 3 krypto u-locks. we have 2 ultra long standard model for locking up at home (covered backporch), and then I use one of these mini guys daily...
http://brilliantbikes.co.uk/45-69-la...kryptonite.jpg

every 6 months or so, shoot a tiny bit of lube into the lock mechanism and work it in good by carefully locking and unlocking it a bunch of times. and if u make sure to fully insert the key when locking/unlocking, you shouldn't have any issues.
sheldon brown rear wheel locking method - no trouble finding something to lock to.

nuhtowel 07-26-12 06:37 AM

Check the the ideal city bike guys

http://gearpatrol.com/2012/07/24/ideal-city-bike/

this almost deserves its own thread

FakeFuji 07-26-12 06:52 AM

My ideal city bike was a Schwinn letour 3, I found it in a dumpster and wasn't all that upset when it was stolen

LesterOfPuppets 07-26-12 08:16 AM

Today I bent another axle. So early in the morn for that.

I gotta stop riding the single-sped multispeed freewheels. This was only a 5-speed but still, jump, wormp, skidddd. Reset axle nuts, minor tire rub on frame rest of the way in.
