...tonight some a**hat thought it would be funny to creep out from a cross street to see if i'd panic and stop. i rode straight at the driver's door, cut right, locked the rear brake (brought the Pake singlespeed tonight) and skidded/swung around the rear of his car and went on my merry way. it was kind of cool. first they were laughing, then they stopped, then started laughing again.
i sometimes forget how drivers in this town feel free to mess w/ bikes......*hrumph* at least i know my blinkies work, otherwise he wouldn't have seen me to mess with me. got another person into Renaissance style fencing at practice. now it's time for a shot and a beer and some sleeps before hitting my new commute route with an extra hill climb. kind of excited. starting to get a little definition between lateral and medial quads. love my biek! |

Playing cards with friends and drinking Cantillion. Great way to end a day of moving.

you never know who you're dealing with or how unstable they are or what they're on. it's not that serious. unless it is, then go for it if you need to. but you better be sure. |
yeah. i pretty much avoid the macho tough guy drama.
in the FBI academy, there's a great call and response during training: "Class! What is the purpose of this exercise?!? SIR! TO GO HOME. SIR!" that's all. just let me be on my way..... :) |

Yeah Moonrise Kingdom was pretty damn good. Wife loved it. I'd give it a B+/A- but I might be too simple for some of the humor/wit, lol. Plus there was some mumbling and lines I missed. Well worth the cash though, would see it again. |

Bibs came today! feelsgoodman. Legs feel good, not too much or too little compression. Straps are comfy both standing and in the riding position, and the chamois isn't too wide/thick. The socks I threw into the order to get free shipping are pretty rad too haha. So far pretty impressed for my first dealing with Zero RH+.

enjoy it while it lasts. Although I actually really like riding it. Isn't that gross? |

It's for when the options are no ride or trainer ride. I can't afford a rain bike nor can I afford the wear that riding in the rain puts on my components. So the trainer is the best option, I really only expect to use it 3-4 times a month. Which is why I'm so excited to get one so cheap. I could never sink $50+ into something I would use so sparingly.

Today is likely my last day at my current job, and therefore my last day in kitchens for a while. Just so sick of the bull****. I'm gonna get out in the woods and forage for wild food and sell it to restaurants again, I think.

Rode to Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Lots of great stuff in there, beautiful view from the top, and some tasty hills to get up there. edit- Also realized I wrapped my bars the wrong way. Durr |
Today I got three hours in the saddle, and took a nap afterwards, feeling like 1000000 dollars right Meow

Today I: am helping to plan what the future of maps will be like; from our SF office.

Tonight Angie and I dove into a big batch of what we call The Trilogy - slow cooked pulled pork, chicken and beef made with Red Stripe beer, brown sugar, tomatoes and habanero peppers (among a few other things) that had been cooking since early this morning. It can obviously be eaten a bunch of different ways but tonight we stuffed some big ol' red bell peppers full of it, topped them with some shredded jack cheese and grilled them along with some corn on the cob seasoned with cilantro, lime juice and black pepper.
Epic dinner. |
Yup, last day. Got fired for no reason other than that the owner's wife didn't like me. Gonna finish the shift, and then have tons of time for cycling.

Today someone gave me some leftover spaghetti primavera when I visited them mid-ride. Got to the airport and thought I'd eat it but had no fork. Two WriteBros pens to the rescue. Italian food eaten Asian style. Then at work I had bean n bacon soup and lots of mega organic bread. This combo enticed my GI tract to manufacture chemical weapons all afternoon. Hope the gas storm passes by tomorrow afternoon, cuz I'm training a new girl. |
Yeah, it's pretty ****ing splendid. The official reason that my chef and I both got fired was that "restaurants work more efficiently with just cooks and no chefs. Look at Applebee's and Red Lobster. They don't have chefs in the restaurants."
|
Those places have kitchen managers. If there is no chef, no sous chef, and no kitchen manager, who runs the kitchen?
There is so much wrong with that statement that my head almost exploded. |
