Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I lounged around all day. Too hot to ride.

I just pressed some coffee. Loading up Arrested Development on Netflix. About to ride the trainer for an hour or two.

I felt going into at least slight detail was much more polite.

On Friday I rode a 500M time that was 0.05" faster than the Elite Women's National Championship time.

Today I:

Received a beautiful front rack (Made by a fellow forum member) and shortened syntac stratos... if only I could figure out what to do with the setup (on the hunt for an Eno Eccentric hub for the C'Dale or perhaps a cheap frame lacking in the fork department.

Still need to get some fork mounting hardware, but its looking great!

I think it's time for that vintage conversion of yours.

Any good idea's? I have a few up my sleeve as far as the final big picture, but I just don't know what to base it off... Part of me wants to find the cheapest frame I can (under $50), another says to get an Eno hub for the C'Dale and not even paint it...

If only a certain someones new frame was 1"

What would be nice would be getting vintage frame in the middle ground of price (no colnago's or schwinn varsity's); a 80's mid range peugeot would be nice, preferably with the peugeot rainbow and checked flag behind the logo. Honey brooks and grips/ bar tape; silver components and box sections (tb14's).

Or I have a fun idea being a cdale track owner... strip the rest of the paint off the cdale and have a shop paint/ replicate it cdale glacier blue and I'm pretty sure you have the capacity for the vinyl decals. Profit? But that rack would not belong.

Swung by the shop where I occasionally work as a tech, got my hands dirty doing three tune ups and building two bikes. Went across the street and bought a roast beef sandwich. Ate said roast beef sandwich while thinking how much I ****ing love roast beef sandwiches. Didn't feel like riding home with a belly full of meat so I got on the train with my bike and got off two stops later near Retrogression HQ. Packed up a bunch of orders, answered a bunch of e-mails, made some calls and waited for the mail pickup. Shot the breeze with our mail guy Jim (I swear it's the same conversation every day). Packed up my computer and rode home (about 5 minutes). Drank a beer on my back porch. Came inside and took a nap with my cat Syd. Woke up when Angie got home, fired up the grill for dinner and made some awesome teriyaki chicken, corn on the cob and sweet potatoes.

As complicated as life can be sometimes, every now and then I have days that make me feel incredibly lucky to be alive.

Of course, Rojas bumped into his bars when he tried it the first time. Great pull by Hushovd too.
