I got a flat 5 blocks from my house, walked back home. Now I'm posting this instead of being out and riding.

Today I:

Traded off my B17 Narrow for a standard B17 so now I have all the parts I need for my fixed townie bike!

I am looking to replace my saddle with a Brooks Pro but until then I will have to steal the Turbo off my other less used bike.

ddeadserious 07-09-12 07:01 PM

Today I left work and picked up my buddy to go to a LBS to test ride a couple road bike and then to REI to pick up some stuff. Pulled into my apartment complex to grab something and went to start my car to leave and it wouldn't start. Spend 2 hours getting it to run, and my LBS was closed by the time I was done. Went to REI and then got a burrito. Now I'm just going to sulk for the night unless I get the motivation to go for a ride.

Today I messed with the fit on the Kagero a little more, and it seems so sick now.

I'm also hurtin' for a Vigorelli, the Timbuk2 Especial Tres, and some FSA Wing Pro's.

jimmytango 07-09-12 07:21 PM

I've literally had one ticket since five o'clock. I'm here until eleven. This blows. Fortunately, tomorrow I'm off. I cannot wait. Gonna hit some Franks N Dawgs with a potential investor and my new business partner. Yeah, I'm still trying to get my own restaurant/bar off the ground. Between that and starting to train to compete, I'm gonna have a ton on my plate, but if I have less than fifty projects at a time I get bored.

I discovered this today. And I think my life is complete.

solipsist716 07-09-12 08:01 PM

I called off work and I'm going to get drunk and hang out with the dudes from one of my favorite bands as they pass through on tour. Day upgraded

striknein 07-09-12 08:19 PM

Got my union card today. Celebrated by slacking off at work and riding singletrack after my shift.

I don't think that burrito is going to help motivate that ride. Where did you go to get the burrito? I know my local REI has a Rubios next door.

 There's a Panchero's right across the street from my local REI. I still might go for a chill ride later.

Spent the day putzing around with my guitar. Getting the callouses back, just wish my fingers weren't so sloppy.

I hear you, man. Every couple months I'll whip out a guitar and decide to play. I need to do it more often.

Yeah I meant the cool dudes that ride around town with 1 or no brakes. Making me feel inferior...

It's good with just front brake but I don't think I should've put the brake lever on the right. I'm so used to the front brake being on the left it feels out of place. But I'll soon adjust to it I'm sure.

The Nittos are great man. The look and feel and construction and quality... ooh la-la. Especially with those 2.5mm lizard skins, so nice and comfy even over the roughest patches of road.
The Nitto RB-021 does have a bit more drop than my previous bars. So it feels a little different to be an extra half inch lower in the "drops". I kinda wanna nudge my seatpost down just 1cm or two.

If nothing else, it'll help encourage you to modulate speed with your legs rather than the rear brake. There are good arguments for putting the front brake on the right, but I think sometimes people do it so they don't have to change their old habit of grabbing the rear brake first.

I wouldn't move the saddle to accomodate the handlebar.

The front brake should be on the right even on geared or singlespeed two-brake bikes.

It's funny, default here is right-rear, left-front. But in Amsterdam, (for bikes that even have hand brakes; many are coaster brakes), it was opposite. Took a little getting used to.

I currently have my single front brake lever on the left but have considered switching to the right.

You Blew It! from Florida. They ended up not wanting to go out to the bars last night though. Monday night problems.

Oh ok. Those dudes are friends of a friend. Guy named Tyler from Vein Cranes in Orlando.

I've been saying that for years.

The hot dog place I wanted to go to is closed Mondays, so we went to Goose Island's brewpub. Some of the crappiest food I've had in ages, but the beer is ok.

+1
Been going there since 2001 or so. Sometimes they have good beers (had a black walnut lager this past winter that was scrumptious) but rarely has the food ever wowed me. They used to have an awesome nacho plate, served around a breadbowl full of nacho cheese [drooooool]... but the nachos are way different now. The menu has had a lot of ups and downs over the years, but mostly downs.
