Double score, double jealous.
Today i am at work and i already finished what i had to do before lunch, this is gonna be a long day... |
Frustrated trying to find decent priced shipping for a set of wheels. $50-$100 for a wheel set seems F---ing crazy. Anyone have a recommendation?
|
Velomine ships sets for $12 via FedEx. Not sure how they do this but they do. A velocity/formula set for $159 ships for only $12 last I checked. Unless I looked at it wrong.

today my taint still hurts from riding 200 miles on saturday

Rode to San Marcos with some friends, 70mile round trip, 1900ft total gain. Got home, took a nap, ate a cheeseburger, rode another 15 around Austin. Really want to get a road bike to do longer trips though. I'll steal that BMC someday. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...93691893_n.jpg Did the Frisco Superdrome development course, so I guess now I can race Cat 4 track. It was a lot of fun, I'm glad I went up to Frisco's 250m track instead of the 333 in Houston. Probably go up there a couple times to fool around and get used to track stuff then see about doing some track days. |
Biking and Kuma's. Good times.

I'm so jealous that you're able to go Kuma's whenever you want. I waited 3 hours to eat there the first time, and I'd do it again.
Go to Lockdown instead. Far less of a wait, and far less arrogance. Wifey and I used to walk into Kuma's back when they came on the scene and we'd hear "sit anyplace ya like, I'll be right with you..." but now we don't walk into Kuma's because there are 11 people standing outside the door. Then once you push your way through, the hostess is a complete ***** and tells you that the wait is 2 hours in a matter of fact way as if to say "if you don't like it, **** off and go someplace else". Maybe it's just me but if I owned a place like that, I'd be nice, hell maybe even apologetic to the folks who show up and get told they have to wait 2+ hours to eat a $12 burger. Oh and there is nowhere to sit or stand at the bar. And you smell like a grease trap when you leave (if you sat indoors). Oh and the kitchen is smaller than the bathroom so your food is going to take an additional 2 hours to arrive once you order. Oh and that beer you wanted that was on the beer list - they're all out so you better have a 2nd and 3rd choice ready for when they tell you that your 2nd choice from the beer list is also out of stock. By far, thee most overrated place in the neighborhood. Do yourself a favor and stay away. |

Interesting. I'm thinking about going to the Bottle tonight to see a show (free Mondays, woo), maybe I'll hit up Lockdown for dinner.

Today I got some things in the mail from Scrod. Checkout the new cockpit...
(Nitto bar plugs and I ditched the bar end lever for a cross lever and put it back on the left side where it belongs) http://i473.photobucket.com/albums/r...7/c191703c.jpg |

Rapha stopped by my work today during their Mobile Cycling Club cross country tour to partake in our daily 'lunch ride'. Cool guys for sure.

LessonLearned, I mean no offense, but I can't ****ing stand Lockdown. Every time I've been, the burgers were overcooked, fries were undercooked and soggy, and the last time I was there I got a bottle of Jinx Proof that was room temp. Kuma's isn't someplace I go everyday. In fact, it was my third choice. A bunch of my friends had gone to Hot Doug's but I woke up late, so by the time I waited through the line they were done. One of them wanted to keep hanging out, so we went to Pork Shoppe, which was closed, and decided to go to Kuma's because there was zero wait at all, just like last time I went. My buddy Davy was in the kitchen (my kitchen at work is about the same size as theirs, so to me theirs is fine.) and sent us a few appetizers on the house, and bought our first round of beers. All in all, I'd say that it was an ok experience.
Afterward, I went on a nice ride, watched some bmx dudes dirt jumping, napped under a tree for a bit, and got opinions about my Rev-X from a couple mechanics. Turns out that the click is likely the carbon coming unbonded from the aluminum. Time for a new front wheel. Dude at one of the shops told me he'd sell me a hand-built Velocity Deep-V to Sealed Formula with double butted spokes for $65. The only catch is that the rim is neon pink. I have a feeling that'd look horrible on my bike. , |
Who cares? Roll with some swag or just spray-paint it, ala DevinL.
|
Today I put in a brilliant 64 miles.
