Today is likely my last day at my current job, and therefore my last day in kitchens for a while. Just so sick of the bull****. I'm gonna get out in the woods and forage for wild food and sell it to restaurants again, I think.

Rode to Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Lots of great stuff in there, beautiful view from the top, and some tasty hills to get up there.

edit- Also realized I wrapped my bars the wrong way. Durr

Today I got three hours in the saddle, and took a nap afterwards, feeling like 1000000 dollars right Meow

Tonight Angie and I dove into a big batch of what we call The Trilogy - slow cooked pulled pork, chicken and beef made with Red Stripe beer, brown sugar, tomatoes and habanero peppers (among a few other things) that had been cooking since early this morning. It can obviously be eaten a bunch of different ways but tonight we stuffed some big ol' red bell peppers full of it, topped them with some shredded jack cheese and grilled them along with some corn on the cob seasoned with cilantro, lime juice and black pepper.

Epic dinner.

Yup, last day. Got fired for no reason other than that the owner's wife didn't like me. Gonna finish the shift, and then have tons of time for cycling.

Bummer about loss of gig, but THAT sounds like the life. I think I'm gonna outfit the MTB for massive Chantrelle hauls this year.

Today someone gave me some leftover spaghetti primavera when I visited them mid-ride. Got to the airport and thought I'd eat it but had no fork. Two WriteBros pens to the rescue. Italian food eaten Asian style.

Then at work I had bean n bacon soup and lots of mega organic bread.

This combo enticed my GI tract to manufacture chemical weapons all afternoon. Hope the gas storm passes by tomorrow afternoon, cuz I'm training a new girl.

Yeah, it's pretty ****ing splendid. The official reason that my chef and I both got fired was that "restaurants work more efficiently with just cooks and no chefs. Look at Applebee's and Red Lobster. They don't have chefs in the restaurants."

Jared. 07-25-12 08:12 PM

Those places have kitchen managers. If there is no chef, no sous chef, and no kitchen manager, who runs the kitchen?

There is so much wrong with that statement that my head almost exploded.

Yeah, and I'd rather lick stale peanut butter off my hand than eat at either one.

Oh, dude, I quite literally started laughing out loud when he said that.

Seriously. Oh well. I'll bounce back. I always land on my feet eventually.

**** food. You deserve better whether you're at the counter or behind it. They don't deserve any of your hard earned money or the pennies you find on the ground. National chain eateries are all like that.

I personally can't stand risers on any bike that gets ridden primarily on the road... that slow entrapped feeling inside you that grows and gnaws at you while you ride.

yummygooey 07-25-12 10:07 PM

So commuters with risers are a no-go**********??

LesterOfPuppets 07-25-12 10:10 PM

Risers and flats good for about 2.4 miles of road riding for me.

yummygooey 07-25-12 10:17 PM

I would riser bar my sw8 fixxay all day long in a city environment.

LesterOfPuppets 07-25-12 10:22 PM

I made it 6 miles on a SS with Noah's Arc clones tonight. Doin' the reverse trip tomorrow morn, maybe even more if I can take it.

I still wished that bike had drops, thought about taking the 2-mile dirt diversion route to add spice but was feeling too wussy to hit trail after work.

Today I edited and uploaded from pictures from my Seattle trip.

For me anyhow, I have a whole bunch of climbs in mine... but a man's cockpit his own :)
