I ate a bacon-wrapped hot dog with grilled onions and roasted red peppers for lunch. Had to take the edge off after applying for jobs all day.

Today I descended down into the 'hood and picked this up for a pittance. So stoked.

Is Lombard St. always crowded, I remember going there one weekend, and it is just flooded with tourists. Anytime, aside form AM times, where is is kinda dead? I wanna take a ride down that was sometime and make a huge loop through the winding street.

Yes, much batter.

...tonight some a**hat thought it would be funny to creep out from a cross street to see if i'd panic and stop. i rode straight at the driver's door, cut right, locked the rear brake (brought the Pake singlespeed tonight) and skidded/swung around the rear of his car and went on my merry way. it was kind of cool. first they were laughing, then they stopped, then started laughing again.

i sometimes forget how drivers in this town feel free to mess w/ bikes......*hrumph* at least i know my blinkies work, otherwise he wouldn't have seen me to mess with me.

got another person into Renaissance style fencing at practice. now it's time for a shot and a beer and some sleeps before hitting my new commute route with an extra hill climb. kind of excited. starting to get a little definition between lateral and medial quads. love my biek!

Pull a piece and smile next time it happens, then see if they smile.

don't commute w/ a gun anymore. governor played w/ job titles and took my badge. not to mention i sold off all my shooters (except for a .22 target pistol) to cover my bike habit.... . time to learn U-Lock-Fu!

doesn't rise to the level of lethal force situation under the law, and would get you at least a "brandishing" charge, but on the rare occasion some punk -will- change his tune with a barrel stuffed in his eye socket.

just sayin', but not my thing anymore...

alexaschwanden 07-24-12 09:05 PM

Rode 52.7 miles on my touring bike with a friend.

jimmytango 07-24-12 09:18 PM

Playing cards with friends and drinking Cantillion. Great way to end a day of moving.

well im not talkin about the 5-0 shooting you in this situation or getting you in trouble, talkin about some thug jacked up on god knows what ready to let some lead fly

Retem 07-25-12 12:03 AM

yeah man, I usually try to follow the rule of thumb - if you aren't willing to scrap, don't even say anything. if it's not serious enough that you're ready to throwdown, don't honk (if in car), don't yell, don't even gesture.
you never know who you're dealing with or how unstable they are or what they're on. it's not that serious. unless it is, then go for it if you need to. but you better be sure.

RGNY 07-25-12 06:52 AM

yeah. i pretty much avoid the macho tough guy drama.

in the FBI academy, there's a great call and response during training: "Class! What is the purpose of this exercise?!? SIR! TO GO HOME. SIR!"

that's all. just let me be on my way..... :)

Yeah Moonrise Kingdom was pretty damn good. Wife loved it. I'd give it a B+/A- but I might be too simple for some of the humor/wit, lol. Plus there was some mumbling and lines I missed. Well worth the cash though, would see it again.

ur stoked about riding a trainer?

enjoy it while it lasts.

Street rider 07-25-12 12:04 PM

Bibs came today! feelsgoodman. Legs feel good, not too much or too little compression. Straps are comfy both standing and in the riding position, and the chamois isn't too wide/thick. The socks I threw into the order to get free shipping are pretty rad too haha. So far pretty impressed for my first dealing with Zero RH+.

It's for when the options are no ride or trainer ride. I can't afford a rain bike nor can I afford the wear that riding in the rain puts on my components. So the trainer is the best option, I really only expect to use it 3-4 times a month. Which is why I'm so excited to get one so cheap. I could never sink $50+ into something I would use so sparingly.

Although I actually really like riding it. Isn't that gross?

I'd be stoked for one of those too. Especially when January rolls around. Nice buy!
