I hear ya, and I'll try to dial it back, but I'm not disputing their bike knowledge. It's more personal stuff and behavioral stuff. So I don't exactly see why they don't have to play by the same rules I do.

yummygooey 07-24-12 01:15 PM

cuz internet

"lesson learned"

?!?!

:)

LessonLearned 07-24-12 01:48 PM

I don't recall it going down like that but alright. :)

I'm not trying to be out of line. I just don't appreciate the abuse unless I can reciprocate with a similar caliber of abuse myself.
I respect the chain of command and the mods here and all that. I listen to the warnings I've received and cleaned up my act accordingly.

I just don't like to be talked down to unless it's jokingly, or for good reason. I recognize and openly admit most around here know more than me about bikes. And I wouldn't argue bike knowledge with you guys.

LessonLearned 07-24-12 01:55 PM

I hope you guys can be real enough to admit that it's a bit messed up around here the way people are treated a lot of times.
People sometimes come in here with honest questions and they sometimes get ganged up on and made fun of to death.
(I don't feel that has happened to me but I see it often)
I was under the impression that snide remarks and arrogant wit were all good as long as they were used sparingly and didn't get too sexual/dirty or vulgar?
I mean, if being a jerk were illegal here, the place would be a ghost town, right? :p

yummygooey 07-24-12 02:00 PM

if you think it's bad here, you should head over to tarckbike.com. bfssfg is like candyland with unicorns and fairies compared to tarckbike.

Mumonkan 07-24-12 02:02 PM

i kinda got that vibe when i first registered, but then i realized that my friends are the exact same way, so its normal

i feel like common sense goes a long way in here and if everything is taken personally/seriously its not gonna be a good time

LesterOfPuppets 07-24-12 02:05 PM

I love it when a soap opera brews.

Today I noticed hulu now has 10-second rewind (nice) but ditched the buffer indicator bars (ultra sadface, buffer indicator is nice when watching on swamped public wifi.)

hairnet 07-24-12 02:10 PM

I made shepards pie for the first time last night and brought left overs for lunch today. I love this and want more more more more more more

LesterOfPuppets 07-24-12 02:15 PM

I've only made it bachelor chef style - brown some ground beef in cast iron skillet, add onion and a can of peasncarrots, top with a buncha Pillsbury biscuits, bake 'till golden.

Best real deal SP I had was with lamb meat, soo tasty.

shepherds pie rules. i had it for the first time in Boston last year at MJ O'Connors, been trying to recreate the same awesomeness any chance i get at home

BFSSFG makes me so hungry all the time! :crash:

hairnet 07-24-12 02:30 PM

I like to cook but I just know very much, so this looked and probably tasted pretty noobie. I have never had shepard's pie before but I am now thinking of different ingredients that would work with it. This beats eating out for lunch

Scrodzilla 07-24-12 02:43 PM

I make a version of "shepherd's pie" with chorizo, corn, diced poblano peppers, red onions and chopped cilantro smothered in mashed potatoes and jack cheese that is to die for.

LesterOfPuppets 07-24-12 02:46 PM

Anglo/Tex-Mex fusion!

I am OP. Let the chaos ensue.

scrod makes the best sounding meals.

All the taco talk yesterday made me get up and head to the local Mexican place for a giant burrito. Today I'm making some beef tacos.

I haven't made horchata in a while, but now I'm gonna.

jimmytango 07-24-12 02:53 PM

Man oh man, this thread can be a ****storm sometimes.

Today I am moving with the use of my MW Vandal and a seatpost mounted rack. ****ing blows.

shepherds pie is basically a left over ingredients bowl, you can do basically anything, including that scrod smorgasbord of wonders

i wish i had brought something better for dinner than pizza rolls to work...lol

Self-deprecating vs. you openly making criticizing remarks towards others is a bit different. I'll make sure to get his ass for you though... all night long. ;)

IMO this thread isn't exactly billed as a strictly bike talk thread, and more of a light "what did you do today" convo starter. But I think it's open to interpretation, and I certainly don't get my undies in a wad if a couple users take up a page or so with a little back & forth.

Woah woah, put your guns away, Cowboy. You have such a short fuse then come back and apologize after you fly off the handle. Maybe you should just think a bit harder before hitting that submit button.

I don't mind genuine ignorance. Come, hang out, ask thoughtful questions of those who know more than yourself. Asking questions that have been asked (and answered) a million times before and furthermore, disregarding them when you don't like the answer, is a big no-no and will draw ridicule and .gifs.

Having long, drawn out arguments over the use of the word 'fatty' and the fact that you are quick to anger (and apologize) is annoying and boring. Especially when it happens so frequently.

But hey, just my opinion and I'm just a big meanie, so take it with a grain of salt. As Calv said, let the chaos ensue but quit getting so pissy when someone doesn't agree with you.

yummygooey 07-24-12 03:23 PM

wwjd - what would jandro do

Jandro 07-24-12 03:29 PM

p.s. Today I: am swamped at work but I'm stoked to work from our SF office for the next two days. a) No commute! b) squeezing in a headlands loop before work will be the bee's knees.
