This thread is more interesting than seeing the fifteen threads a day that lesson learned makes like "OMG I'm the slowest biek ridar evar, what bike components do you guys like cause I'll buy them and fit in. I also won't do a fit before purchasing items because I'm short sighted and want a sw8 fixAy now"

Here ya go. Poorly composed ground ride BITD and ITS (in the snow) http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3094/3...4d6e2736_b.jpg |
So, the Pacific Northwest and Bay Area contingencies can have full conversations here about tacos, but the three people from Chicago can't talk bikes?
Anyhow, moving moving moving. New apartment is rad. May be going to get filmed tonight. LL, I'll be sure to just let you know right here in this thread for everyone to see. |
got a double commute in today.
packed a purple polo shirt for work, unfortunately it was my wife's. :/ so i flogged the bike home to grab a shirt. really sweaty by the time i got back, but my boss didn't make me charge my time for the 40min it took, based on the comic relief. so while i rode the Ridley SSCX on the first run, decided to trade for the Pake Rumrunner SS for the second trip. yay, all the bikes! |
Today I made a typo trying to make fun of someone else. Lost all my internet points. :(
Then I patched four tubes and while inspecting my bike found out my front rim is down to <1.0mm thickness on one side. So now I'm shopping for a new rim or a new wheel. |

avg speed talk? take it to the 41 pls.
speed doesn't mean a whole lot without W, kg and/or cda metrics to put it into context. In case you are actually serious the context of speed was in the explanation. Normally up that segment: 13-15mph. With insane headwind, barely half that speed. W/kg and cda(?) are irrelevant. Either that or I am a bad roadie. |

after work tho Kirins are super fun but I think I still like the f200m better. |
personally im most stoked about points races. I can't wait to try those.
oh and RE: Keirins, f200s... I consider myself to be one of the stronger sprinters on the road out here in socal 3s races, but being a sprinter on the track is a whole different story. I can beat people in sprints after an hour or so of fast racing, esp. if there is a headwind or an uphill sprint. Those linebacker lookin' mofos on the track blow me out of the water in a f200 though... How does someone be faster than me over 200m by like >2seconds???? I was confused at first until I realized that alot of these guys are producing 2000+W... |

today my legs are shot from trying to pace my roadie friend on sunday
i tried some slightly warped, too small drops on my 722 and although they made me feel like i was crawling into a drainpipe, it made me really want some good drops i also completely disassembled the fuji i found and cleaned all the schmutz off the frame, tomorrow i buy degreaser and attack the bits and bobs |

I don't think I'll ever be super competitive (without extremely focused training) on the track (5'8 145lb) but it's fun as hell. Guys like you and I will likely never be competitive at shorter events on the track, esp. individual timed ones like the f200. However endurance races (points, scratch, madison etc...) will favor guys who are more efficient like you and I. Remember that Mark Cavendish used to be a world champ on the track as an endurance guy, not a sprinter. IIRC him and Wiggins won the worlds madison together. You're not going to see Chris Hoy win a world-champ level points race, or probably even finish with the field. On the flip side of the coin, guys like you and me will never, ever be able to compete with the likes of Hoy and our own Carleton in like, a kilo, for example. Different strokes. and for the record im 5'9 and 145-155 depending on the time of year and amount of beer im drinking. right now im probably like ~153 or so as I'm a little burnt from racing too much in the spring and from getting drunk with my coworkers more than usual |
Angie is grilling up fresh chorizo right now for tacos along with some corn on the cob and I've got a big batch of homemade horchata chilling in the fridge. Epic dinners at the Scrod household FTW.
|
i had a chorizo quesadilla on friday and it made me think of scrod/bf
is that weird? i love food. |

Agreed. That's sort of what I was trying to get at with my original post.
I'll try to work on that for you though. Maybe give me some topics I should be discussing instead - what would you like to hear about? After all, that's why we're here - to make sure you're having a good time. And I don't ride a Kilo TT or anything. I ride one of the least popular frames in this forum. And the number of components I've bought because of this forum is fewer than the number I've bought because of my own interests or research. Not real sure what's got you guys so riled up. Less threads = more interesting, eh? hmmm... |
Mashed around Queens and Brooklyn today, lifted weights, then got destroyed in a spin class. Oh and bought some new road shoes.
|
Just busting you balls lesson learned... We all come to the site because we're bike nerds who like talking about the minute differences in products but at the end of the day it's just a bike. My bike isn't amazingly flashy either but it does exactly what it was designed to.
|
I moved all day. My body is spent. Now to go buy beers for the guy that helped me move.
LL, the SE Lager may not be popular, but I'll be damned if it isn't a good bike. |
