someone almost died trying to pass me.

i was 'taking the lane' around a long lazy dedicated left turn lane into my neighborhood, daytime blinkies blazing away. signaled and everything. got about 1/2way through the turn and heard tires coming up. looked over my left shoulder, nothing(?). looked over my right and there is a car trying to pass me -on the right- around a left hand turn with no room and a 3' ditch / phone pole on that side. i unleash every lineage/intelligence/genitalia related vulgarity i can think of, while unclipping a foot to cave in their door in and notice that it's some elderly woman with an expression so perfectly full of terror i assume she just saw a little dead Japanese girl crawl out of her tv.

luckily there was no traffic coming at me, so i gave her room to stay on the road. she never even looked my way.

i do kinda feel bad about some of the vulgarity, after the fact.

in other news, when my 3/32 half-link shows up, i think i may have finally 'magic geared' my Ridley Crossbow conversion....

Until your chain stretches, anyway.

shhh.....it will hear you.

LesterOfPuppets 08-20-12 05:28 PM

Chains R cheep, just replace often

Dannihilator 08-20-12 07:42 PM

Today I had a dentist appointment then went for a street ride.

hairnet 08-20-12 08:47 PM

Today I installed my Ripcord housing - improved braking is instant gratification. Since I had my cockpit taken apart I also put on my Ritchey Force stem and wrapped my bar with Lizardskins. holycrapwtf this stuff is great. I don't know if I can I go back to cheap housing or bar tape ever again. I also installed my NJS Tange Levin CD headset but I dont have much to report. It is very smooth and pretty.

Today I also decided against building up my new(to me) Centurion frame and just ride it fixed for a while. I am now in possession of a Dura Ace 7402 crank, 600 BB, Syntace Stratos bar, Salsa stem, and carbon Cane Creek tt lever and I have an itch to use them. I can't get the lever for a couple of weeks so I will go brakeless for the time being.

I am excite

striknein 08-20-12 08:51 PM

Today I had fun with an angle grinder.

jimmytango 08-20-12 09:51 PM

Don't worry, it's only 9 here.

You did perfect.

jimmytango 08-21-12 12:42 AM

I like your logic.

total convert here as well. picked up the first on a whim and.......*whoa*

Cynikal 08-21-12 08:42 AM

Agreed. It's rad.

zoltani 08-21-12 10:55 AM

my lizardskins are always coming loose, maybe i just suck at wrapping, but no other tape has given me that problem. i do love the way it feels though.

hairnet 08-21-12 11:01 AM

Wrapping was a little more tricky than usual because it says not to stretch the tape. I can see how it would be easy to not put enough tension and then it comes apart after a while

Mumonkan 08-21-12 11:02 AM

today im going to go PA and enjoy some food then see neon trees, excited :)

Scrodzilla 08-21-12 11:28 AM

Today I put a KMC Devil 101 chain on my Gara (after reading that Dannihilator was happy with his a few days back and knowing what a brute he is) and am pretty sure I have a new favorite chain.

Nice, it's a sweet looking chain. How's the weight compared to the 710SL?

Crandrew 08-21-12 11:42 AM

So what benefit are you seeing from the chain? weight, NVH, etc... just curious.

It's about 100g heavier out of the box (it does come with 12 more links than the 710SL though). I didn't weigh it once I shortened it but it's most likely pretty close to the same weight.

It's dead silent and extremely burly.

Crandrew 08-21-12 11:53 AM

Got it thanks.

I always felt like the 710SL was kind of loud. Might have to try this out. Damn you for showing me products I never knew existed.

Nagrom_ 08-21-12 12:30 PM

My 710SL is dead silent.

I'm pretty sure you just have to mess with ****, and finally find what works for your setup.

hairnet 08-21-12 12:33 PM

Damned expensive, LOOKS COOL THOUGH!
