There can be nice cigarettes just like there are nice cigars and nice pipe tobaccos. Sobranie, for example, makes very expensive and high quality cigarettes from good tobacco. They smell like tobacco, not gas-station attendant. There is a big difference between nice cigarettes (including those you roll yourself from pure tobacco) and the chemically processed big brands that are likely half-sawdust.

However, those distinction only really matter in terms of taste and smell, they'll all kill you, hence me quitting. Day three and I feel great.

Congratulations. I know it takes a lot of willpower to quit; both of my parents were three-pack-a-day unfiltered Camel smokers and they tried unsuccessfully their whole adult lives to quit. Emphasyma got Mom at age 55, and lung cancer got Dad at 67. There are five of us kids, and none of us ever started (we'd have been nuts to start after years of listening to our mom coughing her lungs out all night).

Rode around san diego's metropolitan area today with one of the best alley cat racers in the city. Right pedal finally died on me and fell off halfway through the adventure :lol: but it gave me a great excuse to go to the bike shop and get some new ones. I had to ride all the way there on one good pedal though which was ultra lame but it was fun. Good thing was, i discovered a new bike store and it was awesome! They carried GR-9's (which i wanted anyways) and the guy installed them for free :). Overall a solid day of riding.

What was the name of the shop? Does it start with a "V"?

today i have been awake since midnight (worked overnight for my job in organ donation), ordered 3/4 of the components for my new build, and will try to stay up til 10 for virgin freefest tickets.

Rule of thumb...ALWAYS check your chainring bolts at least once a week if not more.

Nope it wasn't velocult if that's what you're thinking. They're awesome dudes but the place we came up on was called mission hills bike shop at OB. I had an awesome experience, lots of fun mech in there likw chrome bags and mission workshop bags etc.

****, i need to check my bolts as i have had a creaking for a week or so, especially when climbing. If you ride them loose what kind of damage can you do to the ring and spider?

A bolt could break and result in the chaining folding up mid ride, usually during a climb where there is a lot of torque applied, often times resulting in the bodily harm of the rider. And scratches to the crank arm...

that doesn't sound too fun....

and i was thinking of doing a 25 mile loop after work, might have to find a way to check that my bolts are tight beforehand

Today I flipped my wheel to the fixed side and went for a little test ride.

Tell me, my BFSSFG friends -- when you come to a stop (for me, dismounting to the right), your (left) pedal is then in the wrong place (bottom of the pedal stroke) to get started again. I was lifting my back wheel to reset the pedal towards the top of the stroke but it was kind of awkward. What's the answer? Don't say track stand because that is not happening any time soon.

Do you have a front brake? I use the front brake and lift up on the pedal strap to get the pedal in the position i want it in.

I do have a front brake. I just read Sheldon's page about it and he suggested the same, so I'll see if that works better for me. Thanks!

Today I got an email notification that my Kilo TT has been delivered to my building. Only negative thing about going on a 1-week vacation tomorrow is that I won't be able to ride until I get back, but it'll be a good thing to return to.

I do this because I'm too lazy to unclip my dominant foot.
