Hm, this is pretty easy.

heh. i'll just keep delivering straight lines..... :)

yes, you would -think- it would be a non-issue.

and, having had to explain both gun/knife -and- self-defense justification laws -to other cops- when i was one, i'll be the first to admit that in many cases the police do not know the laws. snatch'em'up and let the DA and the judge figure it out. no consequences.

Nope. Worse by a lot. A lot of our better players are gone, followed the coach we just got rid of. Its going to be a rough season for the men, but the womens team still has high hopes to go to Cleveland.

I'm from NE Ohio, and I don't think anyone has ever said these words together before.

shoot didnt know you lost your coach, we got rid of our coach too, our squad is shaping up real nice; preseason workouts are slowly killing all my enthusiasm to go out for evening rides though :(

Hey man, the tournament there is pretty wild. At least, for the non-athletes.

I should hopefully find out what is exactly wrong with my right shoulder. It only took almost a week at best...

Great road ride today... only 120km but it was 60km of wishing we had taller gears and 60 km of riding back into a 50-65kmh headwind which was also enjoyable, if not a bit of a sufferfest.

There were no brifters, no carbon fibre save for the soles on my friend's shoes, and just some beautiful vintage road bikes.

jimmytango 09-03-12 11:37 PM

Drunk. Karaoked my ass off. Still at the bar. I have to be at work in seven hours and I'm not home. Time for a shot...

CJWIZVRDGVNG 09-03-12 11:41 PM

Tonight I pulled in outside Portland. Gonna cruise around all day tomorrow.

What are the bike shops I have to check out? So far on my list is going to San Diego transplant shop Velo Cult.

TheRealFaux 09-03-12 11:46 PM

Today I watched a criterium. I want a road bike even more now.

I love Velo Cult... seem to have hit it off well with the owner as we are both older bike shop guys and owners and have a common interest in vintage machines.

As to other shops... River City Bicycles is a place you should definitely see.

Really??? You've never had a pierogi and you live in Brooklyn??? TONS of good places around. There's Kasia's on Bedford at 9th St (two blocks from the Bedford L stop). But really, you can pretty much stop at ANY of the 13132132 Polish places on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint North of the BQE. Usually, there's mushroom, potato, cheese and meat. Try 'em all and try them with sour cream, apple sauce and fried onions. And try them boiled and fried. And while you're at it, have some potato pancakes and kilbasa with horse radish. Wash down with a Zywiec beer, then find a century to ride to burn it all off <g>.

Warsaw's a great place. http://www.warsawconcerts.com/ On one side it's a well lit, spacious bar with rows of folding tables set up like a VFW (it's "The Polish National Home"). In the back, there are more tables and nice grandmotherly Polish ladies selling pierogis. On the other side is an 800 capacity ballroom that gets booked by a bunch of different promoters here. The sound isn't so great - really boomy/muddy - but the booking is usually good, it's so easy to get to and comfortable to hang at that I've been there a bunch over the decades. Some of the bands I've seen there: Buzzcocks, Mission of Burma, F'ed Up, Ceremony, Love (when Arthur Lee was still alive), Butthole Surfers, Psychic TV, etc. You should check it out if you get the chance.

+1 on both. Pierogis are awesome. You can also find them in most supermarkets in Greenpoint/Bushwick/Ridgewood, packaged locally and reasonably fresh. Pan-fry them suckers for 2 minutes with some onions.

Warsaw is awesome, and i agree about the sound being a little muddy.
My experience with Warsaw: 10 years ago I was on tour with Amon Tobin, Bonobo, and DJ Food. Warsaw was one of our last stops on a month-long tour and we were all ready to go home at this point (plus Amon and I both caught some nasty cold in DC). With 20 minutes left on Amon's set, Warsaw's owner (big old Polish gent) came up to me in the wings (i was on mic duty) and started pointing at his watch, yelling "it's late! Time to go home!" I tried to plead with him to let Amon ride it out for at least 10 more minutes, but the owner just went straight to the controls, pulled some big lever that seemed to both cut the sound and turn on the house lights. Amon had this look of pure WTF bewilderment on his face, and I just lost it and started laughing/coughing hysterically. I also found out the next day that my parents, who came to the show, got a bit of a contact high and stopped for food on their way home.

Today I wake up to see this picture of my nephew on instagram

2. he said "look, i'm a girl!"
3. he is very proud of himself.

If I had to work as early as you do, I'd have been late too. As is, I was ten minutes late for my 9am start. I have a sore throat because I decided to do Slayer, RATM, and Pantera at karaoke. Smart. Your nephew is adorable.

Today I'm dealing with the dumbest customers ever. Seriously.

I think it might be worth it to fly out to the Northeast US for my next bike purchase. I see insane deals out that way in the C&V eBay/CL thread all the time.

Nice score, Dan!

hairnet 09-04-12 03:06 PM

That prompted me to browse ebay real quick. Everything my size $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
