Well, with the frame being the last part to come in, it would be hard to piece it together, hahahah.

Although, when the wheelset came in, I did throw the cassette and rubber on.

Speaking of which nagrom, what retail model is the frame based on anyway?

I can't quite say.

Today I worked a rest stop for the gran fondo NJ, then went and put 20 miles in on the 930.

sheepdog84 09-09-12 08:07 PM

rode a pretty good distance (15+ miles) for the first time.... with no mechanical issues!

... but about 3/4 of the way through the ride, my feet fell asleep momentarily due to the quill digging into my feet on those MKS road pedals... not exactly fitting my feet well.. in the market for new pedals

also finally trying Dogfish Head's Punkin Ale.. guilt free!

Today I found out that my sister is coming from London and I can purchase a Canyon Aeroad with Ultegra DI2 for the price of a Focus Izalco 3.0 wich is a steal, only problem that I'll have the $$ only next month :( I'm torn

Look at this bad boy

So today I did my first group ride, St.Paul Classic Bike Tour, something different and a fun experience. I decided to go for the 40mi ride and challenge myself to not stop. Surprisingly, I only had to get off my bike twice because there was a broken tree on the trail and my bite screw for my water bladder was leaking so I had to fix that. I only spotted another road bike that was either a single speed or fixie otherwise everyone else is on a geared bike. Overall it was a good and fun experience, will be doing the Minneapolis Bike Tour next weekend.

Seriously, dude? I get that this is a male-dominated forum, but there is still no reason to disrespect women like that.

today i rode home from work, forgot to charge the battery for my headlight so it was super sucking

saw an old man, mustve been 60+, grey hair all bones and muscle on a latenight hammerfest on a XC cannondale mtb with full kit and like 40 blinkies.
he was spread eagle with his seat super low and his heels on the pedals going about 8 mph @ around 130 rpm, looked like he was having the time of his life

i love bikes, they make people happy, even if theyre "doing it wrong"

Today I am proud of my self but also somewhat disappointed.
I did the nyccentury.org race today, I set out to do 75 miles and had to bail out after 65 because I started to feel really sick. The most I've done on my fixed gear previously was 30 so I am happy with the outcome but would have like to have finished the 75. I enjoyed beasting the hills past the roadies, even 50 miles out.
I also watched my Jets destroy the Bills.

Mumonkan 09-09-12 10:08 PM

sad that i couldnt have joined, but distance/time is all about eating and drinking

first 65 mile ride i did i started bonking at 50 and kinda limped home
second time i had the right amount of snacks to keep me going and felt like i could do 200

We still need to get a group ride in, maybe in another week or so while the weather is still good.
my legs still had life in them, I was climbing hills at 50+ miles like I was fresh. My body just began to shut down, It was more than double what I've biked before. Also the Dolan Pre Cursa probably isnt the best choice for a distance ride, but its smooth. My nutrition and hydration was good, or so I think. My hands and neck were unbelievably sore, and my back started to get a bit sore too but once I stopped and stretched the back was fine.

I get that you were joking, and I get that I'm not exactly innocent in this arena. However, jokes like that are the reason that women often feel like outsiders in forums and objectified/look down upon in real life. Just something to be aware of. I know that I've been trying to get better at it.

Today I'm preparing for a fixed century by getting drunk. Smart.

Im not a pro randonneur or anything, but worked for me the last few times is clif bars, bananas, and snickers peanut butter indivuals. When they met you can just squeeze them out like a gu packet. Potassium from bananas helps from cramping muscles and get clif(or comparable) bars that you actually like.

Coconut anything seems to be doing wonders for me lately

Food every 45 mins and a liter of water per hr

well said, but in this case the joke wasn't too bad so don't worry too much SS-Giant. i'm much more horrified by the dude that has "i like my girls asian" in his sig.

today i am well rested after a bit of a bender of a weekend -- fell asleep at like 9:30 last night. got our first volunteer meeting for bicycle film festival tonight, can't believe it's almost time for that again.

garlic_rice 09-10-12 08:34 AM

Today I took a bit of spill on my ride to work. Tried to go up to an empty sidewalk to get around parked cars and standstill traffic. Serves me right - didn't turn hard enough and caught the edge of the dip in the curb. Ate it kinda hard, but was able to get up and finish the ride. Now my pinky hurts and there's a small chunk of skin missing from it, but it looks like the most damage was the road rash on the brake levers (don't really care but nooooo tricolor 600). Also yay helmet!

EDIT: happened in a largely industrial neighbourhood, so the sidewalks are pretty much unused by pedestrians. Just wanted to clarify; normally i am never that guy.

Thanks. I'd just had a conversation with someone wherein I got quite upset about a similar issue, and some of my ire spilled over here. Sorry to all if it seems I've over-reacted.

If BFF is coming up, that means we met almost a year ago. What a crazy ten months it's been, eh?

Today is metric century day. I'm going with my buddy Matt, who is a 45-year-old slow rider who always rides a fully loaded touring bike that weighs 40lbs and often cuts our rides short, so expect my post-ride report to say "30 miles at an average of 12mph."

IthaDan 09-10-12 08:52 AM

Sold three bikeson CL, got the Merckx paid for with room to spare. Pumped.
