Today I raced mountain bikes.
I was riding the below 30 years old category on the longest distance (5 laps of 9km), the course had lots of loose sand, headwinds, and loose rocks. Overall It was very fun, I was the only guy racing singlespeed and got called crazy by some of the racers. I think I was the last one in my category, not sure yet, but I wasn't last overall. Not sure when the results will be online, the organization was bad and confusing, the people who were there trying to win something got quite frustrated.
As I only race for fun, I dont really care, I got a shiny medal for participating and I'm cool with that.
The race machine before the race

Mass start for everyone doing the 5 lap race.

It's up in the air at the moment. The remote was corroded from some ancient energizers left in it. But I already cleaned that up including the internals of machine itself (surprisingly clean for its age). It powers up and everything seems to work through aside from playback which I am unable to test at the moment as I haven't had a VHS let alone beta tape in my possession in some 10+ odd years. I am about to hit up a couple record stores and thrift stores to see if I can find some betas otherwise I'll have to wait for a chance at my parent's house. A good part of me tells me that my birth was recorded on one of these.
If it doesn't work, I have a good feeling it'll be repairable considering sony products back then were built like tanks.

Writing an article about how to build a dollhouse. I love/hate this stupid job.
drove across the state and back. placed 3rd out of 42 in my fencing tournament and had about 20 years on 1 and 2. my dinner companions afterward were a retired SAS explosives instructor, turned food critic, and a NSA interrogator. little weird.
one of my buddies at the tournament just bought a Trek Crossrip to pull his kayak or child trailer.
first week of the wife's unemployment. plan on having beaujolais and bail money on hand.
looking forward to setting up the bike for commuting tomorrow. ate/drank too much this weekend.

Was once again reminded how incredible a wife I have, after breakfast she said we should go to the Leatherman Store here in Portland to look at getting me a new one.
Picked up a Surge and an extra hacksaw blade for it.
Picked up 3 Sidekicks to give away as gifts and so my wife would have a spare while her PST was in for warranty service.

Wives are awesome. Mine let me drop a chunk of cheddar on co-op parts, and we had a nice shopping spree together to celebrate paying off a line of credit.
She set up her own computer today so I could focus on homework too.

Today I did a bunch of yard work and got an easy ten mile road ride in. All in all, a good day.

Today I can't find my electrical tape so I can't put my newly acquired stubby Cinelli stem on. May actually have to ride bike all the way to Home Depot.
Today I did Muddy Buddy with a few friends. I was a little scared since I had not ran in almost 4 years, but in the end my friends were the ones having a hard time keeping up.

mmmmmm
i wanna see whats up with these mud runs but cant really run anymore..mabye CX is the answer?

Since I didn't read the first half of this book for a class which was due on Friday, I have to read the whole thing tonight. Started 3 hours ago, and I have about 70 pages of the full 200 left. Also wrote a paper this morning, slightly hungover, and then I have to formulate a survey about homelessness and then write a 3-5 page paper about it for Wednesday. I hate when professors have assignments due at the same time.
