finalized my decision on my new road wheel build

ultegra hubs laced to stan's 340

logic: cheap as hell. custom professional build. light, but with reliable hubs that i will actually reuse when the rims crap out. not too concerned with stiffness (never gonna win a race sprinting)

then my truck broke down. "new wheels? how about... new coolant system?" says life.

Today my sqrl's bike came in. Too bad we don't have the money to pay for it yet.

Tried to do a balls-on-stem skid down the ramp on the bike path and the handlebars groaned and rotated down. Stupid X2 stem.

Also got this sweet pixie:

Your balls must be gargantuan.

massive meat mast.

Today I spent an hour Googling how to move to Brussels; and then how to get a visa; and then looking at job listings at eurobrussels.com. Must be the clouds and the rain but I miss Belgium today and want to go back.

Got a flat on the rear from a nasty sliver of glass shaped like an arrowhead, on my commute this morning. I don't carry spare tubes or a pump with this bike, so walked the last mile of my commute. Patched it at my desk when I got to work, good to go for the ride home tonight.

Mumonkan 10-03-12 02:07 PM

today i got offered a manager position at my store for the 3rd time, when they already know i cant open up my availability

no. i cannot drop out of school to pursue a long pointless life in retail. that is the reason i am in school to begin with.

would be nice money though, if they would only realize that i already give them 32+ hrs of my life every week and that i do the job of 6 people and a manager there as it is. all they need to do is call me something else and change some numbers around

**** retail.

Yeah, I've felt the need to bail on Chicago lately too. Too much bull**** here. Time for a fresh start.

zomg thats EXACTLY how my ride felt

RGNY 10-03-12 04:30 PM

first flat in about three years.

i've been elfshot. a miniature flint dagger from the trail slashed an 1/8" cut in my Marathon Plus and pinholed the tube. right through the armor.

ordering a new tire, will ride this one in the meantime....

TMonk 10-03-12 05:30 PM

three yrs? damn u lucky duck.

cali_axela 10-03-12 06:27 PM

Geez seriously. I thought I was lucky going almost 6 months without one (on my road bike). I did go a couple years without one on my mountain bike with armor strips in the tires, now that I think about it -- one of the tubes eventually failed at the valve stem though.

RGNY 10-03-12 08:16 PM

lucky? almost freakish. i don't know how many times i've rolled through an unseen broken bottle at night, cringing at the sound, with no results.

Dannihilator 10-03-12 09:17 PM

Today I threw the dmr around some.

LesterOfPuppets 10-03-12 09:21 PM

Today I've finally had it with my Record front hub's dustcap popping out (maybe more like easing out, never seen it happen, only the aftermath) all the time.

Gonna repack hub and see if I can see what's up with cap tomorrow.

I could do that with my Panaracer Ribmos. No punctures yet on my Paselas, except goat heads, but I tend to pick out the glass before it has the chance to work too far into the tire.

seau grateau 10-03-12 10:19 PM

Put in 60 miles today. Probably my longest leisure ride ever. North LA to Santa Monica and back. Scenic route both ways.

Mumonkan 10-03-12 10:21 PM
