Today I did a nice 5 mile sprint on the caad9 since it was in the 40s and I woke up early. I love that bike.

Today I decided that I'm going to flip my hub to the fixed side for the first time. Look for me in the mishaps thread later.
|
Today I'll finish my DeBernardi build.

What's the chain tension like with freewheel vs. fixed? With a freewheel, I've kept the tension pretty slack (probably too loose, even) to keep from binding the freewheel, but is that a worry with it fixed? |

Today, just got back from my second alley cat race. I got 10th out of about 60. Feel pretty good about it because some of those riders were FASTASF*CK. My buddy Kelly won 1st, and he is wicked fast.
My friend, who is a girl (not my girlfriend) was in my group and was the first female to finish. She is a BOSS. She ended up winning a bike! |
Today I realized it was too nice to sit in the house. 61 degrees in NYC in January is insane. So I rode in to pick up a new phone and then am stopping at my buddies in a few. Waiting right now at Apple to get my Nano fixed.
Also realized I need to start riding with more people. I like the solo riding, but I rode with a guy yesterday from Queensboro Bridge into Queens by my house and found the ride a bit easier and faster. @Sherblock: Nice color. Different. |
Today I'm considering going to our school dance at 9:00 but I can't muster up the courage to go... plus, I don't have anyone to go with.

Today I rode to a friend's house and ran into a cycling team out on a ride. Traded pulls with them, did some springs, chatted a little, and got asked to try-out. I'm thinking about it. I'd be the only fixed gear guy riding in a sea of Pinarellos and BMCs and SRAM Red. I'm gonna do it. Next week is my first ride with them.
On the way home from dude's house, a lady was pulling through an intersection where she had a stop sign and I had nothing. She saw me, I slowed down to stop, she waved me on, and as soon as I was in the intersection she floored it. Hit and run. I shattered her windshield with my helmet, got a cut on my arm from the glass, and spent 15 minutes picking glass out of my helmet. ****ing *****. |
You call the police? They would just call local shops to check for replaced windshields in the car you describe.
Seriously dude, press charges. The lady deserves it. |
****, I hope you got her plate number.
|
Press charges...
Got in a good road ride today, hard pace and am feeling it right now. |
^wow yeah, press charges
Last night on the way to our Friday ride some SUV kept pretending he was going to hit us (me and one friend) and tried to run us off the road. Then they rolled down the window on the passenger side and yelled **** at us before speeding off. tough guys oh and I was basically on a residential road (35mph) |
I honestly didn't even think to call the cops... I couldn't read the number, though I tried.
|
it's not too late
|
Today I worked on this a little more... have some new cables, chain, brake pads, and other bits to throw on and got that crank straightened out enough that the bike was good to go for the day.
Helping build this up for my friend here in PDX... there is always some bike needing attention anywhere I go. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...rudgepath1.JPG 1953 Rudge |
Oofah. Those crank arms are jacked.
|
Called 311 (police non-emergency number) about the hit and run. Nothing they can do, not interested, false reporting is a serious offense... I ****ing love Chicago.

I went to a dance without a date, but with some friends, in high school. But I knew a bunch of people going and a couple of girls went together without a date too. I didn't have any problem getting any dances with my friends, who all went with their dates. It's been my experience that there are usually girls sitting down who don't have anyone to dance with. *I was nervous too, but damn it was one of the best dances in high school. As long as you get trashed before hand, it's a blast. |
