I had the Peugeot torn apart after using it to tune the Opensprints rig, so I spent a couple hours servicing the hubs and reassembling it as a townie. I was watching cute pets on Animal Planet and got distracted, and ended up shearing off my stem binder bolt. The replacement I got from the LBS was a wee bit too large, so I had to mill the stem to get it to fit. I was much more careful the second time.

Next, the IRO gets its front hub serviced, then I'll run a new shifter cable.

Today I received my Silver A23 rim from Scrod, now just waiting for the second package.

A tiny bit bummed it didn't have the same stickers that the black ones come with, but pretty cool in it's own way!

Today I biked to what may be my new favorite coffee shop. Got my triple grande iced americano w/ room for $2.00 and it tastes excellent. Suck it Starbucks.

Today I:

Realized how nice a hot shower is after a 20 mile ride in 34 degree (Fahrenheit) weather is.

I just drink black coffee and am extremely content with it. I have simple tastes.

Truth.

Today I threw my clips & straps onto the Earl. It's pretty cool so far.

I drink black coffee more than anything else but it doesn't give me any caffeine kick anymore. When I need to procrastinate more efficiently I'll opt for an americano. I've browsed eBay and bikeforums with unparalleled speed today. I still have yet to type the heading of the paper I should be doing.

try roasting your own w/ green beans. really worth the effort and you quickly figure out how you like it.

of course i only have 1-2 8oz cups/day, so....

yeah but those first few moments in the hot water can sting pretty bad.

Samezies. You can get some really good roasts though, if you feel like getting semi-fancy. I <3 Blue Bottle, myself.

Today I decided to buy pepper spray to bike with.

I'm blessed to ride the amazing country roads of TN and KY, but you get chased by dogs 10 times per ride. When I'm alone they've never been a problem but when I'm with my wife, she's just not fast enough to outrun them especially when she's tired. It doesn't help if I'm in front and alert the dog so that it's right on top of her by the time it makes it to the street.

Two weeks ago a friend got bit on a ride with me and my wife. Last week a friend I used to bike with got bit too. A dog bite can really ruin biking for the victim and I don't want anything bad to happen to my wife.

Dude. I wish I was like you guys.

I drink regular instant coffee with some milk (or soymilk if I want to change it up) and some splenda and mix it all up with ice. Nothing else.

I'm so uncool.

Also, today I got my first package, which were my rims, but then I got this:

"Notice Left, December 03, 2011, 12:02 pm, DAVIS, CA *****"

Which is total bull****, because I was here at that time.

And also, I don't see any notice.

that's a tidy good looking bike man. The orange is subtle and not that "loud"

Damn this is just a lose/lose situation. Either someone gets bit up or a dog gets pepper sprayed. Gotta be some kind of better solution or middle ground here.

calv 12-03-11 07:16 PM

it's called being a responsible dog owner

LesterOfPuppets 12-03-11 07:18 PM

Splenda = granulated evil.

trevor_ash 12-03-11 08:09 PM

I save my calories from fancy sugar filled coffee drinks for late night scotch instead. Black coffee it is :)
