Today I spent most of the day car shopping for a new car for my wife for her first car! (she's been driving my car here and my hand me down sti back home) Signed away on a '12 audi s5 coupe. Best of all we finally have a bicycle hauler down here! Our second stop was our LBS for a thule set up.

Forgot to mention, but in red. I would've went with white; but her car...
If I recall correctly, you own an audi wagon?

Today after being out late doing accounting homework I came back to my room only to find it full of annoying freshmen watching a loud movie on the projector again. Ugh.. I just want to be able to crash on my own time once in a while. If it happens again tomorrow I'm laying down the law :twitchy:

Lost my car keys somewhere in my house or outside. They must've fallen off my caribeaner. Annoying because I drove home....

Yes. I have a white 2008 A4 Avant.

Today I had an open carton of orange juice thrown at me by some maniac in a car after being yelled at to "Get on the ****ing sidewalk". It hit me on the shoulder. I most likely could have caught up with him but I somehow managed to let it slide because I knew it wouldn't have been pretty.

Now, instead of feeling angry I just feel bummed because it's very easy to see there is no long-term hope for humanity.

Today I complete 29 years old and my best gift came midnight when I hauled ass in my weekly night group ride :D

Today Richard Schwinn emailed me snapshots of my circa 1940 Paramount track frameset after it got out of the Waterford paint shop. It ships tomorrow.

Augh first day of work of the university school year... :cry:

EDIT:

@Scooper

Looks great! Can't wait to see it built. :lol:

Cynikal 09-22-11 08:59 AM

Holy hell that looks amazing!

J.Wolfe 09-22-11 09:13 AM

such a classy paint scheme. congrats

jimmytango 09-22-11 01:21 PM

Today I became unemployed. The restaurant I was at cut staff by half and stopped doing dinners. They started at the highest paid employees, and as Sous Chef, guess who was really high on that list. That phone call was not how I wanted to start my day...

::EDIT::

That Paramount's original paint is beautiful. I like flat black, but Jesus Christ that thing is nice.

Sorry dude. I'm sure you'll find some new work fast (unless you don't want to).

From what I've seen, don't most restaurants stop serving lunch when they are struggling? Odd to close down for what should be the busiest part of your day.

jimmytango 09-22-11 01:43 PM

Brunch was the busiest part for this place. I hope I get something. I have bike parts to buy!

That sucks. Good luck finding a new job.

It depends. Most restaurants in the downtown areas of larger cities only serve lunch because the downtown area is relatively vacant at dinner time.

Bingo. Unless it's a destination restaurant like Per Se or Le Bernardin in New York or (my former employers) Alinea, Charlie Trotter's, Moto, et. al. Those places could be open 24 hours a day and be booked solid the whole time. I need to go back to them. They don't pay as well, and they're super stressful, but they're more stable.

Today I dominated my biochem exam, now I'm going to go do the happy thursday bike ride and relax the rest of the day. I may stop buy the LBS to hunt down a set of long reach brake calipers.

You... worked at Alinea? Whoa. I've not been yet, but it's on the list. Unfortunately we can only afford a meal like that once every year or two. Our last was at Tru, before that Les Nomades and we've eaten at Moto too.

Sorry to hear about your job. Since apparently we're neighbors, I'd be happy to buy you a "sucks to be unemployed" drink. We should meet up sometime.

Yeah, I worked at Alinea, Trotter's, Blackbird, and MOTO, and I've interned at Tru, Blackbird, and Schwa. After all that I got sick of fine dining cuz an 80 hour work weeks is too much, and having staples put in my head from having a pan thrown at me was the last straw. About a year ago I decided to go casual, and I've been bouncing ever since. Tried to open my own place twice and it fell through both times. I'd be happy to accept a drink sometime.

And Scrod, thanks. I'll pull through. If I can't find something soon, I'm gonna go to a bike shop and try to intern as a mechanic until I get a job. Time to learn more about this stuff right?

I had some 16 year old throw a coke at me once when I was riding at night. It took me a while to realize what it was until it started dripping down my leg :(

I did however try to catch them. Problem was, when I found their car, there was an identical one just one block over. I couldn't chance it
