I know you are being cool, which is great. I think it's the right thing, if you can help him out.
But get something in writing from him saying he received in perfect condition and the damage was caused by his own fault.
This attempt to repair is a totally seperate transaction and the buyer understands that.
(maybe the email chain is enough, but asking him to sign something to send along with the frame is not a bad idea)
If it gets ugly, it could be seen as you agreeing to fix the damage as a condition of the sale if it is not written down.
If you can't warranty it, suggest he give https://predatorcycling.com/ a call. They do carbon repairs here in socal.
(no affliation, but know they do the work)

Thanks for the heads up.
I've made it very clear that I am not responsible for the damage, but I will say it again to him, as well as put everything else out on the table.
I'll send him that link, as well as one to calfee design.

Damn son, what a hassle. That's really good of you though, Morgan. I hope everything works out.
Makes sense.
Morgan, you're a better man than I. I'd have said, "**** it. You bought it. It isn't my fault you're dumb as **** and destroyed it." I hope it works out in your favor.

I'm too nice sometimes. But it looks like I'm in the clear.
Just sent him this:
Got this:
Just sent him this:
I was advised to make it understood that the transaction regarding the bike was completed, and I am in no way claiming responsibility for the damage that occurred after it left my hands. I am continuing to help simply out of good faith.
If this is understood, I will be happy to help with the bike, but again, I am in no way claiming responsibility for the damage.
If the frame can't be warrantied, I'd advise getting it repaired by one of the following companies, or replaced.

Yeah no I totally agree. I'm not blaming you or demanding money or to replace parts.. I just have no idea how it happened nor have the knowledge to install the parts.. I appreciate any help you can provide to get me back on the road
Hopefully they will replace the frame under warranty.

Hopefully they will replace the frame under warranty.

Sounds like the situation is as good as it can be given the circumstances. It would be sad to be in that person's shoes; I'm glad they are behaving in a seemingly dignified manner. It is good of you to help, and great that you're basically in a no-lose situation.

early dinner in a restaurant w/ the in-laws. walked the dog along the wetlands trail. now enjoying an absinthe made by a local friend and -very determinedly- ignoring the sale on the Civilian Le Roi Le Veut.....stay strong, stay strong.....

Waiting for something special on RG to pop up. lol

I had a vegetarian dinner with my metal head friends. It was pretty great listening to some brutal stuff while cooking and then sitting down to eat with calmer Black Sabbath playing lightly in the background. Damn I wish I had some left overs right now. I dont really want to ride my bike today because I feel like some aggro black friday shopper is going to run me down
Today, I was out riding and pretty sure I was setting a PR on a hilly segment and then, suddenly, black ***** on the side of the road. I lol'd, and no PR was had.

Buy it through Backcountry.com. Same price but with free 2-day shipping. And also if you place your order through the phone you may be able to get an extra percent off. When I bought mine thats what I did and ended up getting an extra 15 percent off the already marked down price.
You gonna hook it up?

Damn, I do need some bottle cages. I think I might go to Bens and take advatange of the 20% of sale (not that it's that much of a deal anyway) for some tools and mic stuff.
was the only person at work today. answering the phone and reading pulp fiction ("The Thin Man" by Dashiel Hammet, 1933).
had to stay a little late and took the long way riding home in a (relatively, 49F) warm rainstorm.

I did get an aquarack thats serving me nicely so far, especially since the water fountains are off for winter lol
Think im ok without brakes for the most part, not a lot of stoppage or elevation on my island
been thinking about this for a while and im not sure what i want more yet (read: first), cross bike or roadie
also not very knowledgeable in the world of maintaining and tuning gears and brakes so im a little hesitant
