What do you mean it doesn't rub off? Like it's hard to clean? I love Oury grips so I might have to try these.

P.S. Congrats, Carleton!! :D

Thanks!

Thanks! I ordered all kinds of crap at brunch today. Belgian waffle topped with whipped cream, blueberries, and ice cream. It was awesome.

3. Don't plan to do anything useful for the rest of the day, maybe a nap.

Thanks!

...and that's the best part of your day.

Today I put in another metric century. Over the past 7 days I put in over 250 miles.

hamish5178 07-31-11 08:05 PM

Today I went to H&M and bought a couple pairs of cycling friendly pants (narrow, stretchy, dark) and a hoodie. I am sooo ready for fall to start, my favorite season.

pulling for a mile is good way to burn out on a fast ride, but I guess it's ok if you held on. usually people pull for a minute or two max

I spent the whole day doing bike related stuff.

rode my bike around adjusting the handlebar and hoods
stopped at the farmers market and helped at the co-op's booth
went to the co-op and helped a guy strip parts off three of his bikes. He had a Surly Troll, Steamroller, and Geekhouse bike.
mapped a few routes for a ride I am going to revive
still hanging out at the co-op waiting for burritos and beer

I would ride that sh*t out of that so hard.

No, but really, does anyone know if Velo Cult is gonna carry these new frames? Box Dog Bikes no longer deals so it looks like I'm going to have to rely on a 2 week trip to San Diego I'm taking in a few days. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to order it...

Leukybear 07-31-11 10:13 PM

I'll ride that lo pro anyday. :thumb:
~~Once that sticker on the seat tube is taken off; I can stand the top tube sticker through because it's opaque.

I think he hates me anyway. I was one of the first dudes to tell him to get a BMX. This was back circa 2007 around the time he formed DART...Death Adder Racing Team. I thought the name was weird because, well...there was no racing OR snakes involved. Talk about disappointment.

(You guys should check out those bios on that page. Golden.)

Sounds like you are dehydrated and low on electrolytes and maybe have some heat fatigue. Take it easy the next few days and re-hydrate, drink some gatorade (it's cheap, ubiquitous, and it works), don't skimp on the salt (electrolytes) and let your body recover.

Lets see em. I'm on the search for some cycling friendly stuff.

Death Adder post is worth so much lulz! At least some of the comments are from clear-headed people.

warningfs 08-01-11 11:43 AM

Rode to subway! Not too many miles but it was new for both me and that road. I bet im the first to ride a bike over here.

yummygooey 08-01-11 11:48 AM

Since I spend most of my days indoors at a desk, and what little sunlight I actually get involves me wearing a jersey, my upper body has pretty much not seen sunlight all summer.

On Saturday I played tennis for two hours on the lakefront without a shirt on.

Today I'm cringing in pain every time I have to move because my shirt rubs my shoulders.

Leukybear 08-01-11 11:55 AM

Are you using after sun/ sunburn aloe ointment/ cream? It really helps!

yummygooey 08-01-11 11:58 AM

I've applied aloe 4 times in the last 24 hours. Going to throw some more on when I get home.

tessartype 08-01-11 12:07 PM

Had a massive headache all morning yesterday, and it took me until 4pm to actually get out of bed. I felt like **** and wasn't looking forward to crossing the city (I live in the deep south, parents and work are at the northern end) in the massive heat, but as soon as I got my new lycra, helmet and glasses on, I felt revitalized. It was still ****ing hot, motorists were still *******s, but I got my first chance to use all my new gear.

Finally a helmet that fits (Rudy Project Zuma), my first sunglasses (Rudy Rydon + clip-ons), and a suit that does double-duty in the pool. Also chugged an entire 1.5l during the ride, courtesy of my new bottle-holders and bottles. By the end of the ride, I felt fresher than when I started.

This morning, I headed out to the pool and worked on my technique again. Took me a while, but I mastered bi-lateral breathing and improved my posture at the same time. Amazing how I only started last week, and am already hanging in there for 500m at a time in the medium-speed lane - feels good to work on my upper body for a change, after two years of intensive cycling and occasional running.

As a strict wearer of long pants and closed shoes, my first cycling event (first time I was too excited to apply proper sunscreen) left me with a nasty burn on the back of my legs - except for the race-number and a temp-tattoo with the logo of a friend's company that supplied my clothing. Apparently black marker and temp-tattoos make great sunscreens, because the number and logo are still legible! Burnt into my skin, so to speak.

Haha, I'm afraid my styleforum.net days of posting pictures of my "fits" are long-over. They're basically just 5-pocket skinny/slim jeans made from 2% lycra or something. Best of all they have a button fly like most everything H&M sells. I'll buy anything that has a button fly.

They were 29.99 USD a pair (I bought grey, navy, khaki, may buy black if I don't win the black raw denim I'm bidding on on eBay) and are stretchy enough that I can swing my leg over my Mash without any resistance.

edit:

tonight I'm hoping to buy a complete pair of Kreitler rollers for only $125!

hwdxbassist 08-01-11 02:38 PM

Today I:

Put of my Egg Beater SL Pedals on the Lo Pro and tried them out for the first time. WHAT A DIFFRENCE!!! I love it and may never go back
I fell trying to track stand at a light. but it was no biggie. I didnt put my arm out and try to catch myself I just put my arms next to my torso and let gravity do the work.
I also bought a stem and finally put some bullhorns-no more risers. HUGE DIFFRENCE. now im ready to RIDE!!-after work that is.
