Anyhow, I ended up totally messing around the entire day while mass transferring back up files that I've acquired down here to my mac pro server back home which has been in sleep mode for the past 3 months; gotta love osx WoL from a 3 month dormancy and university fiberoptic internet.

But the following bicycle ride and dinner out with my wife brought me back down to earth. Best part was when my wife surprised me with bianchi celeste painted nails.

Wait... yer a dude ?

:D

Trip was great; the lady and I went for brunch when I got here, ran a few small errands, and then I needed a nap in the worst way.

Went for a short ride this evening and made a nice light dinner and am just about ready to call it a day here.

.....had the day off from work and got to go see JJ Grey and MOFRO play downtown! A great funky blues band---check em out if you have never heard of them.

Today, i took my Fixed Gear COMPLETELY apart bottom bracket and all, and painted it. now its in the local bike shop for re assembly (dont have the tools to do it myself) and a tune up. cant wait to pick it up tomorrow!

mashtofu 08-10-11 02:44 AM

Wow, I let my bike dry and cure for a week before I reassembled it.. Be careful not to scratch it.

hairnet 08-10-11 02:55 AM

I helped a guy assemble his Super Pista with ****ty wheels, $5 tires, and a riser bar with Oury grips :notamused:

It kinda felt like the thing with Carleton and Prolly. At least it was fun to handle that frame and see it up close. I can't believe I was ready to pull the trigger on one of these a several months ago, ****

How did you take your bike apart without very same tools required to put it back together?

Verbose 08-10-11 07:50 AM

Had an interview for an unpaid internship. Pretty sure I self-sabotaged it just to avoid the unpaid part. Planning on going riding regardless of how **** it is outside today.

Higher Class 08-10-11 10:38 AM

did a uber mini tour of some of the small towns in my surrounding area. Waldo, Hampton, Keystone Heights, Melrose, Hawthorne, and finally back to Gainesville. 66.0 miles total. Didn't have a computer, but it felt like I was doing about 17.5mph the first half to conserve energy. Ate two muffins and a scone and drank some coffee in Melrose, and picked up the pace on the way home. Beautiful weather, beautiful scenery... too bad I was all alone. It was kind of peaceful, but I love riding with friends. They all just think riding down the highway is crazy. :(

yes, on a geared bike

andrizzle 08-10-11 12:03 PM

i'm going on vacation... to Fresno, which doesn't seem like a vacation at all. i'm excited nonetheless

fastbartender 08-10-11 01:04 PM

I used to live in Fresno. I suppose anywhere can be a vacation if you enjoy yourself.

MACRI 08-10-11 01:11 PM

Update: I went back on my lunch break to buy a small tube of grease for my new GR9's that just arrived. Dude tried to sell me Tri-Flow (dry lube) for the pedals, saying "this is what we use". Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that only good for the chain?
Sorry guys, guess it's time to walk the extra couple blocks to the other LBS's around here from now on.

Why walk?

garlic_rice 08-10-11 03:07 PM

^^ oh right. *derp*
But Scrod, amirite about using Tri-Flow instead of grease? I'd understand if they didn't have any grease and just wanted to sell me something, but there was a bottle of Park Tool grease right there on the shelf. Which i ended up taking.

I'm not Scrod but I can say that grease will get the job done for most things, including pedal threads.

Leukybear 08-10-11 03:36 PM

It depends which out of ~20+ tri flow lubricating product it was...

Scrodzilla 08-10-11 03:46 PM

Yeah, man...there's a lot of Tri-flow products (and I've never met one of them I was particularly fond of).

I miss Seattle.

Today I realized that I'm getting a raise in a few weeks and that my new IRO is not as far off as initially anticipated...

I am pleased.
