if i can quit cold turkey after smoking since age 12 you shouldn't have a problem, the key is breaking your own ******** mental rules like "i smoke before bed, when i wake up, after dinner, when i scratch my left nut" now after two years i can smoke casually at a bar if i feel like it which after 10+ drinks i'll usually do just about anything including a 17 year old apparently. still not allowed over to her older sisters anymore, at least not without being chased out the yard by her boyfriend too bad used to be friends. what were we talking about again? oh yeah the other thing i found helped was after the first month you get the mental of it which is actually your dopamine system returning to normal during that stage i would occasionally smoke cherry pipe tobacco just to get the feeling of smoking but i never inhaled it just something keep the mouth busy. the first 4 days i smoked through at least 10 grams of pot i don't suggest this as you kinda lose your marbles a bit. although i still enjoy biking stoned specially on a longer ride.

There is only one thing I enjoy more than biking stoned.
Biking stoned AND drunk. Then everything is like a race video. EDIT: Plus, I refuse to quit smoking. Either I'll get hit by a car or lung cancer'll get me. Either way it's just a race against the clock. |
Then you probably shouldn't dream about better tomorrows.

do you notice that you can feel your ankle positions even more when you smoke and ride? i feel just more conscientious of my entire body and aware of when each detail is doing it's like i can control the molecules brochacho
|
That hardly makes sense, but your internet snark level far exceeds mine, so you've clearly won this round.
Damn you, prooftheory. |
sorry allow me to rephrase toke and ride
also i was pretty much raised by /b/ irc channels and newsgroups they thought i was "gifted" in school so i had a laptop since 93 turns out i was just the only kid who liked computers in grade 1 |
I wouldn't say more aware is the word.
I just feel invincible. Which is curious, because ordinarily with a stomach full of alcohol physical exertion tends to make me vomit- but get me drunk and I can damn near sprint the whole way home. |
My new frame just got here and I can not find my hex tool ANYWHERE! :(

Today I:
1. Did not go to work. Met the tow truck to get my car taken to the dealership for diagnosis and repair (would not start). 2. Went to the post office. Shipped a bike part that had sold. Picked up a package that contained a vintage road frame. 3. Went to the DMV and turned in the license plate for the motorcycle I sold last week. 4. Went home to unpack the frame. Proceeded to check, clean, and install headset. Had to extend the threads on the steer tube to fit the headset. Disassembled the Centurion. Made a list of parts to buy. Found everything but brake calipers, spent some time on ebay. 5. Dealership called me right before closing to tell me the car was ready. Drove the truck to the dealership to pay and pick up the car key. Drove the car home. Biked back to the dealeship to pick up the truck. If they had called 30 minutes earlier it would have been one trip on the bike. It turns out that a couple of the "100k mile iridium" spark plugs went bad at 65k :notamused:. Four new spark plugs cost me $254 (towing, parts, labor). If it wasn't for the towing charge and the inconvenience, I would not complain. |

today I biked over to a friend's house who just had her bike built by the 'fixed gear' store here in Houston. They were apparently assembling it and truing the wheels for $40, sounded like a great price. Went over to make sure everything was in order. Loose brake calipers, wobbly wheels and a saddle trying to touch the sky.
had a bike shop guy refer to a stem as a 'neck'. he was a new guy and was trying to show me an origin8 bike when I came in to see if they had any half links for sale... - he took my wheel off to see if he could take it down an entire link, decided he couldn't then put it back on. Started riding home and noticed wheel rubbing the frame, f*cker didn't center it. Had to take it off on the side of the rode and adjust it myself. noticed the bottom part of my ZS headset can spin around and have no idea if that's normal or not. first time i've had a ZS headset and I'm kinda ******** when it comes to them anyway. either way it made me worry. then a put a 70m thomson stem on the 725 and rode to a place where the houston banksy wanna be did some work that hasn't been removed yet, took a pic. rode home, stopped by CVS. chugged two arizona iced teas |
oh and then went to skid (I normally don't but always do when I'm pulling up to my apt stairs for some reason) when I got home and had my ***** slip. checked lockring and it's tight as hell, could some unwanted chain slack do that? I'm PW to PW on cog/lockring
|
Don't ever step foot into that bike shop again (unless, of course, you're going in to burn the place down).
Your lockring may be tight but if it's snugged up against a loose cog, you'll have trouble. Crank down on that cog and recheck your lockring. |
ha I'm referring to two different shops in my post, but yeah, probably right on both accounts... especially the fixed gear shop -- they did a similar thing to me and my kilo before I owned any tools
Is the zero stack okay to spin around freely at the bottom of the headtube like that? |

today i made it up to 30+mph again, this time on the wabi (48x19)
kept it up a couple times for a good 10 seconds... i felt like a dork |
Went to a pud for the first time, legally. It felt weird because I'm not a social person and it is a new social environment. I had fish and chips, Sam Adams and a Guinness. I learned that bottled Guinness tastes like crap and I don't know why. I'll pour myself a glass later to find out. The pub is on a small street I like to ride on a lot but it would be nicer to find a place closer to my apartment, instead I have a dumpy korean liquor store and 7/11

you realize my heart stopped when you said stripped hub.
pub... fish... chips -- you sure you're in LA? |
There seems to be a big thing for Irish and English pubs out here. I dont know the bar scene so maybe this is more widespread

No way to replicate the soup in a pressurized glass bottle. |
