today i am upset that a mash frame i was gonna bid on got pulled with less then 24 hours remaining for the auction to end. I couldn't bid until today so that sucks. now down to 2 frames.

Spoonrobot 01-30-13 06:14 PM

Today I found out that Bikeisland ships really fast.

Unfortunately I also found that Bikeisland ships the wrong **** really fast.

Muffin Man 01-30-13 06:15 PM

Hahahaha what did they mess up?

Spoonrobot 01-30-13 06:22 PM

Ordered a 51cm Men's GTR Series 4.

Received a 49cm Women's GTR Series 4.

The pisser is that if they'd just shipped the right size I would have kept it, because the geometry is functionally identical.

Well at least we'll all get to see how the return/exchange policy goes. Since they don't have anymore Men's Series 4s listed at Bikeisland I wonder if they'll pull one from the Bikesdirect inventory for me?

Today I rode to an LBS to check out a Jamis Sonik that's for sale on commission there. It's my size and in great condition but it's $1,400 which is pretty steep. What a cool bike though... I'm going to have to do some more research. Welds were all smoothed except for where the dropouts were welded on. Those looked ugly as hell :( It had the American Classic wheelset and FSA carbon cranks.

It was nice at least getting out for a ride again. It has been snowy but today a lot melted off so I braved the sand and slush to get out there on my bike again. It was my first real ride since I got my Catlike Whisper and my Velo Orange fenders and I was impressed by both of them.

Dannihilator 01-30-13 07:26 PM

Today I stretched my commute to 42 miles total.

Mumonkan 01-30-13 07:30 PM

today i didnt ride to work, and i wish i did.

got out before the rain and wind, was glorious all day.

today i have accepted the fact that my ancient (2007? idek) mac mini is dying. it can't play netflix without stuttering and having to stop to re-buffer. (it's not the internet; i can play netflix on my laptop over wifi no problem and the mini struggles over wifi or ethernet)

now i have to figure out what i want to replace it with (new or refurb mini? apple tv? roku or something else?) and how to pay for that. difficulty level: the mini is currently my only dvd player; i have a really old receiver that doesn't have optical audio in; i have all of my music and photos on an external drive connected to the mini; i'm broke.

Nagrom_ 01-30-13 08:22 PM

You can get a used Wii on ebay for like 60 bucks. There is a Netflix channel, and you can do some simple software modifications to get it to play DVD's.

That might be the cheapest solution.

Use your laptop...I use my old lady's laptop for streaming movies and sports to the TV, music as well (since we no longer have a stereo or physical music).

Today I found a gray hair, but I just turned 17 a month ago...Looked it up on th interwebs and theres a possibility I could have some serious **** orr it could just be genetics.

Nagrom_ 01-30-13 09:13 PM

It's probably AIDS.

That, or just a gray hair.

Adrian_ 01-30-13 09:19 PM

Hopefully it's the first one.

I get random hairs in weird places sometimes. Like I had curly one 4 inches to the right and above my belly button. It's the only one even remotely in the area. I think my brain sent the wrong signal or something.

My laptop is a macbook air - no dvd drive. :D

Nagrom_ 01-30-13 09:24 PM

Sounds terminal.

jimmytango 01-30-13 09:32 PM

Today I did a wet 34 miles. Locked into the most perfect trackstand ever at a stoplight, and there blew a mighty wind. it was no longer the most perfect trackstand, and my new Bellweather tights have a hole in the knee because I couldn't clip out in time.

IME refurb products always have something else wrong with them, if its not the same problem youre replacing it for

also new mac minis have no superdrives, its just a box. so youd have to get a usb superdrive (or other comparable cd drive) to play dvds with

that being said my macbook pro is dying too i think, and i certainly dont have thousands for a new one to replace it.
thinking of getting a mac mini but its one of the other half dozen things i want to get this year that cost 500+ bucks...
