Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Simple QuestioN!

So i bought a

2011 Dawes SST AL

Only came with a 17T Freewheel (1/8)

Specification:

I bought a COG & Lockring for it but not sure if it will fit, bike comes tomorrow.

It was 1/8 so i pretty much bought a lockring and cog that was "1/8".

COG: Eighth-Inch brand Track Cog 1/8" width CNC Steel with ED treatment
BC 1.37x24 TPI (Standard)
Lockring: Shimano Dura-Ace Track Cog Lockring Left-hand Thread
BC 1.29x24 TPI

*Will they fit on my bike?

Thanks

- Timothy

Still unsure of what you're talking about but my guess is that your confused because the threaded part of the lockring is smaller in diameter than that on the cog. This is normal, as there are two individual sets of threads on a fixed hub - a bigger one for the cog and a smaller (reverse threaded) one for the lockring a shown here:

Please have them properly installed at your local shop when your bike arrives.

I'm with Shrodzilla, if you don't know how to properly place a gear on a bike, or can't figure it out, it's a good idea to have a possessional do it.
