Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Need some help with building a fixie...

Soo the frame I have is a 50cm frame and I'm about 5'7'' does that really matter or should I just balls up and get a 53cm frame?

I made a forum post the other day extolling the virtues of the versatility of Dockers. I feel like a total ******.

I'm starting to get actually irritated by that word, and I think I can partially attribute this to all the newb threads using it.

Imagine the look on my face when I took my race bike to a local shop and lady was admiring it and asking questions:
Lady: "Nice bike! Where are the brakes?"
Me: "It's a track bike."
Lady: [confused look]
Me: "It's for riding on a velodrome...an oval track. There are no brakes. The gear is fixed so there is no freewheel action..."
Lady: "OH! It's a fixie?! Nice!"

THIS tool is quite helpful ... use it. But, for a "true track fit" go down a size - especially on the top tube dim to compensate for the more extreme saddle to handle bar drop of a "properly" set up track bike.
