Definitely part out.
Let's see $450 complete, $275-$300 would be fair.

Include shipping and I'll go with that.

Wait, what size is it??

Any larger than dwarf and I'm out.

Should I buy a Fuji Track 1.1 for a 24 mile commute 3 days a week?

Only if you don't have to lock it up.

seau grateau 08-30-13 11:30 PM

No.

Leukybear 08-30-13 11:37 PM

Hmmm I've actually seen this bike in the wild while getting chow during lunch on market street in SF.
Bike is pretty much the industry definition of been there, done that as far as track bikes go. Any budget friendly china-VISP/PCO/Colossi has what it does.
~~You can do better with your choices.
Not really a commuting type bike by the way; aluminium is a crappy material to commute with. Get something chromoly.

Props to fuji for getting rid of the user cut seat mast tho.

Unless it's a Wabi scandium Lightning.

sheepdog84 08-31-13 08:48 AM

should i...

part out/sell my vigorelli and get something made of steel?

a wabi, new 5th anniv. big block, or a bareknuckle are what i had in mind.

those framesets seem to be more geared towards general street use and commuting.

Scrodzilla 08-31-13 08:51 AM

You should keep your Vig and build a new steel bike. Variety is the slice of life.

I'm thinking of getting a new backpack for school, what should I get?
Messenger bag, or a backpack? I'm probably going to carry a 13" laptop, some binders, and books.

Mumonkan 09-01-13 10:25 PM

backpack, messengers suck for carrying actual loads

freight, mw

calv 09-01-13 11:46 PM

you can add http://ilequipment.com/ and chrome to that list.

Mumonkan 09-02-13 06:38 AM

chrome makes a good bag but imo theyre all lacking in volume

i was gonna suggest ile because theyre great but more geared towards photogs which kinda hikes up the price a bit

MW Sanction.
I use one for a 15.6" laptop, books, binders etc. It can fit a lot more than it looks like, and things can be strapped outside of it using its closing system.
You can fit about 25 cans of Arizona in one.

If you think you need more room than that, try out the Fitzroy.

johnnytheboy 09-02-13 12:36 PM

+1 on the fitzroy.
also, archive rolltop. that will be my next bag.

Yeah my Chrome Pawn is great but it has surprisingly little space. This is because the bag is designed to distribute the weight closer to your body so that it is better balanced for biking.

Muffin Man 09-06-13 05:04 PM

Change of plans, I'm gonna get a new kit. I only have one pair of shorts right now.

bowzette 09-08-13 12:57 PM

I want to put a fixed clog on free wheel side of flip/flop. I have brakes and don't put back pressure on pedals. I heard a bottom bracket lock ring will keep the cog from coming loose. Will this work well. Is not having a lock ring an issue if I tighten the cog well with chain whip, used brakes and don't put back pressure on pedals?

seau grateau 09-08-13 01:07 PM

People do it. With a BB lockring you should be fine. I wouldn't roll without one, personally.

A BB lockring doesn't help very much, since it unscrews in the same direction as the cog. I'd suggest using some Loctite blue threadlocker on the cog threads, which will keep it tight, but still not make it impossible to remove if you ever want to do so. Be sure you thoroughly degrease the cog and hub threads prior to using the Loctite.

spRICE 09-08-13 05:34 PM

A BB lockring helps on a "suicide hub" as much as it helps on an actual BB, for what it's worth.
