TT bikes are for TT's and triathlons. If you don't do either, don't buy.

should i klein quantum race for ~$300 instead of merckx?

does this or this look like its worth $600?

tybg 07-08-13 06:03 PM

Klein for sure. Is the paint glittered?

Adrian_ 07-08-13 06:16 PM

The Merckx is too beat for $600, If the klein fits scoop it up.

Of course, its a Klein.

I want one for some reason. The paint is that reason.

Mumonkan 07-08-13 06:37 PM

only thing thats giving me second thoughts is the klein is aluminum, reviews say the quantum race isnt the most pleasant ride but it is plenty stiff

also would have to rethink some stuff about the build like rims and cockpit/post

Merckx isn't orange? PASS

I wouldnt buy a high end racing frame expecting a plush ride but tires, inflation habits, and fit make a difference.
An interesting article on two nearly identical frames and how different they can feel. http://www.bgcycles.com/frame-tubing-selection.html

Should I bring my cross bike or road bike to Burlington, vt?

prooftheory 07-12-13 09:21 AM

Yes. (If I had to choose, I'd go with the cross bike.)

jpsawyer 07-12-13 12:24 PM

I have never been up there, but anyone know of any good fire roads or anything like that around there?

seau grateau 07-12-13 12:26 PM

Mumonkan 07-12-13 12:57 PM

Dixie Gentleman 07-13-13 01:01 AM

seau grateau 07-13-13 01:28 AM

Anyone see any problems with using a 46t 3/32 110 bcd chainring?

I found some nice vintage 165 crankset but later realized that the body was 110 instead of 130mm I have already decided on 3/32 chain and have purchased a 16t cog and chain already. My concern is that 110mm bcd combination with 3/32 would be too flimsy.

Thanks!

seau grateau 07-13-13 12:54 PM

You'll be fine.

Wut 07-13-13 02:31 PM

Should I buy a Aventon Mataro frameset?

http://ts2.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.47106...9&pid=15.1

Looks like welds are smooth but a bit pricey.

I ride a 110bcd crankset with a 3/32" drivetrain and it's held up very well. 42/15

tybg 07-13-13 11:10 PM

Should I build a cross bike or just put cross tires on one of my roadbikes and save my money.

seau grateau 07-14-13 01:09 AM

If you're going to ride cross --> cross bike.
If you're not going to ride cross --> save money.

Agree ... assuming CX tires will actually fit your road bike (many won't handle anything bigger than a 700x25).

tybg 07-14-13 10:07 AM

I was going to race cross, but cross tires also fit my road bike. Ive had a set of 700x35s on before.
