I can't decide if I should buy a second pair of Omniums for the Leader since it's now gonna be my winter/hauling bike or if I should just pick up a cheaper set of cranks that aren't on a GXP BB.
Would of transferred the ones over from the Kilo but they were chrome and that would just be gross. |

cheaper cranks.
Also, I have an extra GXP BB and have considered checking out the local co-ops a road crank that I can use but I"m not sure how often people use 165 on road cranks. |

As far as I know CCC doesnt have anything gxp for under 100 right now. Bike farm is closed for a few weeks while they move. City bikes, as much as I don't like them, does have black omniums for 130 and a few other cheaper road cranks last time I checked.

Should I buy a Leader 725 off eBay, where they're about $130 less than reputable sites, or just sell a bunch of **** and get a better frame? Or are Leader frames alright these days? I'd love to get a Cinelli, but that'd involve selling my cross bike. If I buy a Leader, are the frames on eBay legit or should I go through Retro or Citygrounds or where?
|
City bikes does, last time I was there was like a week ago though.

Should I put the matching 8 speed shimano 600 brifters on my ciocc so that everything is matching or should I leave it how it is as a 10 speed with indexed dt shifters? It's great now and I love dt shifters. But all matching is pretty nice too. Especially since everything from the stem and seat post are shimano 600.

ive heard that 8sp shimano 600 levers can be problematic and finicky. i agree; go w the index'd dt shiftars
|
Yeah. I had looked before, but there seems to be many more 7 speed shifters out there than 8. And getting some under $100 on ebay has proven problematic. But I will keep looking.

Be a boss. Go full friction. Indexing is for sissies.

trying to upgrade my bike.
wanna swap my fixed hub for a 2-speed hub, no coaster brake and not fixed. wanna get front+back brakes (gum hoods on drops setup) wanna get retro cycling gloves wanna get a unicanitor and maybe try to pad/cover it myself(this could be fun) wanna get 1"(25c) gumwall pasela tourguards still gonna use the same pedals+clips+straps ~ (not sure how kick-shift 2-speed hubs work, but if i dont like it ill just use a single downtube shifter and a seattube cable guide.) also kinda wanna get different strap buttons/straps |
I support all that except the Unicator. It's not gonna be fun.
|
haha
are Turbos comfy? i dont want to really wear shorts all the time, unless im riding for like 60 miles |
I hear good things, never ridden one myself.
|
same. yeahhh ****.. padding my own sadle would be hard.
might just get that sturmey archer s3x 3-speed fixed gear hub and run just one downtube shifter... seems good. i used to skateboard pretty heavy and i ride a 52/19 brakeless and my knees are sad. i think its not from spinning constantly and not being able to coast, its probably from stopping by resisting the cranks or skidding, and by mashing up hills i just want brakes and more than one gear, hahah track stands are sweet though by the way i ride my bike to work, to the bar, to friends houses, parties, it gets a lot of usage used to just ride 1 and 3 speeds. i started riding fixed early this year, it was still really cold. |

i used to be all about the skids for the first month, whenever i skid now my knees hurt for days.
s3x hub is the tits though. highly recommend. |
Should I sell/part out my Leader, keep my Trek and use the funds to pay some bills and eventually build up a sscx bike? I've been dying to get into cross and this gets two birds stoned at once.
ideally I'd like to end up with a Felt breed (LBS is a felt dealer), or an AC Nature Boy or Nature Boy Zona. The Zona is around the same price but the stock components are nicer than the breed. |
