lol'd.

bro 01-14-13 06:25 PM

i dont really have the money for a well-made older 10 speed and i wouldnt trust cheaper parts, plus i like simplicity, so right now im riding a mix between like a townie/roadster and a road racing bike.
coaster brake, 27" wheels, fat gumwall tires, drops, cloth tape, fake concor saddle, etc.
basically, im going to put the MKS deep clips(steel, sz M) w/ white leather christophe straps + MKS touring pedals on it... do yall think it would be ******** to ride a coaster brake w/ clips and straps?
im probably going to do it anyway, unless it proves to be like, super dangerous

Scrodzilla 01-15-13 10:00 AM

Why would that be dangerous?

Scrodzilla 01-15-13 10:01 AM

Unless you plan on setting your head on fire while riding, why would that be dangerous?

bro 01-16-13 01:59 PM

hahahaha i dont know, people get razzed a lot it seems for riding super fast with only a coaster brake.
i think its what i want, i just wanted to know if yall thought it was whack or dangerous.. like if you slip or take a crazy turn and are about to eat it, usually i can like bail out. is it still possible w/ clips and straps or are you pretty much locked in

Scrodzilla 01-16-13 02:03 PM

If you're concerned about safety, why not use a front brake too?

Eagerly looking forward to the answer to this question.

bro 01-16-13 07:07 PM

if i use rim brakes i want front and rear, with like retro-looking levers and hoods, and if im doing that, i might as well have a ten speed too. but as of right now i just have a townie/cruiser that i put drops on, basically.

i guess my question was "should i put clips and straps on my bike, or will people razz me or call me a poser"

which in hindsight, i guess it doesnt really matter.

Scrodzilla 01-16-13 07:08 PM

So looks are priority #1. Got it.

If you're gonna have a ten speed, might as well have a car.

seau grateau 01-16-13 07:24 PM

To actually answer the question, I would not use clips and straps with a coaster brake. But I wouldn't use drops with one either.

Kayce 01-16-13 09:16 PM

I generally argue that you should use clips and starps. Why would you say no for a bike with a coaster brake?

Dannihilator 01-16-13 09:32 PM

Should I do hills or hammer it out on flat ground tomorrow?

Nagrom_ 01-16-13 09:33 PM

Whatever hurts most.

Dannihilator 01-16-13 09:51 PM

Mentally, flat, physically hills.

bro 01-16-13 09:54 PM

idk, i just was wondering "how lame" i would be for running clips+straps on a coaster bike. stupid question, really. i was drunk.

no, looks arent priority number one, but i do want it to look classic/retro/vintage/whatever. i dont like the looks of curvy futuristic stuff with lots of labels and colors.
ive eaten **** a couple times on bikes with cables. once i kicked a wire by accident and had to ride home stuck on the heaviest gear ever in the snow, and once a cable got caught in my chain somehow and i ate **** on an old 7-speed huffy. i didnt really know anything about bikes back then though, but im still kind of wary of cables, and i dont have the money for a well-made ten speed. i basically just threw drops on my cruiser for more hand positions and to feel like im going really fast, and i think they look sweet.

if i ever want to ride a really long distance ill want to have a different bike though. i basically just ride my bike to the bar or friends houses or whatever.

it wasnt a very good "should i..." question is all. im gonna run them anyway, i tried my friends and i could pedal a lot better.

Think about your question and you shall see the answer.

Kayce 01-17-13 08:38 AM

Nope, still unsure why. Unless you are talking about my stupid typo. :innocent:

How does that even happen?

More CM Punk is always a good answer.

gtb frame (no fork) with no paint for $225?

they seem hard(er) to come by in my size. it's not going to be treated very nice anyways. i have nicer bikes to baby.
