Looks like welds are smooth but a bit pricey.

No. How about you stick to reputable brands?

Scrodzilla 07-14-13 11:09 AM

Like State. Those bikes are awesome.

I'm going to buy three of them and keep them boxed up in a time capsule.

striknein 07-14-13 11:10 AM

Yeah. I hear State has an amazing new track machine out.

[edit] Dammit Scrod!

I think brakes should be a concern as well as tires. Road calipers will get gunked up and lose stopping power really easily, which is why dicks or cantis are generally the standard on cross bikes.

Ironically, you tend to see even more dicks on road bikes.

Bro.

Alright I got convinced by a friend to just buy a cross bike. I'm gonna go check out a ridley x-bow, caadx, and some others tomorrow. Usually I just put together a bunch of cool parts n such, but I sort of want the warranty that a shop will have. Cause cyclocross.

Should I overhaul the bottom bracket in my 88 Fuji, or should I replace it with a Shimano UN55? Would it be better to just replace the old bottom bracket with a sealed system?

i plan to do literally all of that on basically the same bike, but i overhauled it when i first got it and its basically fine

i just want to change it out for a un55 so its less of a pain in the ass to adjust and maintain

jpsawyer 07-19-13 05:41 AM

If you overhaul the BB properly it will stay adjusted for a long time and may not need to be adjusted again. But then, you may have no choice but to replace it as well

SpeshulEd 07-19-13 11:56 AM

Should I try to do something with my Windsor - The Hour (I have a pile of parts I took off my road bike) and try to make it look nice or just try to sell it and get a nicer fixed gear? I've hardly ridden it in the past few months, but once the weather cools, I'm thinking it'll be a fun commuting bike now that my legs are stronger.

Really like the color, meh on the price but not unreasonable

GENESTARWIND 08-14-13 01:11 AM

it looks new, so far the only other price close to that i can find new is at citygrounds for 165 and only comes in black and dirty nickel.

Most bike warranties specifically state that racing will void the warranty.

I'd pay a hundo for that frame, no more.

The current Rum Runner has a 1 1/8" head tube. The one you bought is the older 1" version. (edit: Which means the carbon fork you were asking me about on the Retrogression forum is out of the equation.)

Also, learn how to type and post a link for ****'s sake.

booze.

GENESTARWIND 08-14-13 04:21 PM

I blame my phone

Nagrom_ 08-14-13 04:30 PM

Your phone doesn't drink.

GENESTARWIND 08-14-13 06:25 PM

This is true but my phone wouldn't stay on the full site for Ebay, kept redirecting to the mobile one so i copy pasted the mobile link.
Any ways, does the older rum runner use the same seat post size?

Huffandstuff 08-14-13 07:33 PM

I can't decide if I should buy a second pair of Omniums for the Leader since it's now gonna be my winter/hauling bike or if I should just pick up a cheaper set of cranks that aren't on a GXP BB.

Would of transferred the ones over from the Kilo but they were chrome and that would just be gross.
