Novatecs. I think I'm going with 32h 2X front & rear (or maybe a radial front). I'm so indecisive.

Go for red splash.

I haven't had a chance to get them up on the site yet but we just got some XR-380s and they're quite awesome.

Hmm, i'm just trying to go light as possible. In that case I should probably just get the 200's. I forgot you had those.

He'll yeah. 200s laced with Sapim Lasers will weigh practically nothing.

I like what i'm hearing. But with the 200's i'd be losing DA AERO, would it really make a big difference? I mean aeroness vs lightweight.. Which one should be top priority?

Unless you're riding at maximum speed everywhere you go, aero matters very little. You could always go with the XR-270s which are deeper yet still only weigh 440g (which is really good compared to a Deep V which is 520g). Choosing good spokes really make a world of difference tool. Lasers weigh less than half of typical straight-gauge spokes.

Sweet i'll consider the 270's. What would be some good lightweight hubs to go with all this?

I happen to be really fond of Novatec track hubs - they're a little lighter than Formulas and have better bearings - but you could always go with a really light road hub like the one pictured below in the front (which we can source from the Novatec factory if need be) to keep weight down.

Would it be worth it to buy a 90g carbon saddle for $30, +30 more for shipping? It would be coming from Hong Kong..

Good carbon isn't cheap and cheap carbon isn't good.

This makes me wonder if they are marketing any earthly matter as "carbon."

Currently in the process of building a bike. Definitely doing white with gold accents. I know it's not too big of a difference, but should I go gloss white or matte white?

Those are hot. I would definitely snatch those hubs up depending on price point. Is there a site I can see weight/bearings/specs?

My wife's got one laced to an Aerohead on one of her bikes and it's a really kick ass wheel:

If I were to use that Novatec road hub with 20h laced to a Kinlin XR-200 in the front, do you think it would still manage some mild curb-hopping and rough roads? I'm coming from B43's with Phils so I don't want a wheel that's too weak and will need to be trued often. Though I'm trying to go lightweight and economical. For the rear I plan to use XR-270 with 32h Suzue hub. Note that I weigh 100 pounds and usually ride 10-20 miles on rural roads. Would you guys recommend this setup for me?

A 20h XR-200 laced to a Novatec road hub will be incredibly light, especially if you use good spokes. Weighing a hundred lbs, I really don't think you'd have any issues as long as the wheel was built properly from the get-go.

Most of the roads around here are horrendous, that's why Angie chose a 28 for the front.

if you don't want to wait for these to ship from taiwan, then check out bikehubstore.com, they have good stuff.

Ah, thanks, I'm glad to hear that. Any recommendation on strong yet affordable spokes?
