No. CX_rays are overpriced at retail and offer negligible benefits on a bike unless everything else is already super "aero". Spokes are not a good place to start at all for aerodynamic and weight savings. Especially with a 36H wheelset. You can do better with your money at $3 a spoke.

Unless you're racing, aero spokes are stupid. Also, they can be huge pain in the ass to build with.

Nagrom_ 03-18-13 02:28 PM

With a 36h wheel you can use really light spokes with no issues, and you're also so far behind already in the aero department, blading the spokes won't make a difference.

Use lasers. Same weight.

Should i buy a brooks B-17 or Romin Evo Expert. I was really liking the romin, but then i check out some Brooks reviews and the b- 17 looked really comfortable. I liked the way the saddle flexes it seems like my skinny boney but would be very comfortable on it. Whats the word on both for anyone how has either?

FixedDriveJess 03-19-13 04:50 PM

A friend of mine has the b17. It's a comfy saddle for a comfy bike. If you have any drop you probably won't want the b17.

Test out saddles at your local LBS

Everyone has a different ass. What works for me, may not work for you.

Pretty much exact opposites in intended use.

Specialized:
This competitive road/tri saddle is contoured to position the rider for optimal power transfer and comfort while comfortably allowing the rider to sit in a low aero position

Brooks:
ideal for long distance sports touring, trekking and atb use.

After a while i started to thinks about that. The team pro clasic would probably be more appropriate. Thanks again hairnet!

hairnet 03-19-13 05:39 PM

I <3 my Team Pro

mojohand 03-19-13 05:44 PM

+1 for Brooks Team Pro

Reeses 03-19-13 05:46 PM

Should I get Sugino Dust caps? Just 'cause.

Jaytron 03-19-13 05:48 PM

+1 for Fizik Arione, since we don't care about choosing saddles the right way

That was one of my finalist. :P

Nagrom_ 03-19-13 06:32 PM

Ariones feel like upside down bar stools.

striknein 03-19-13 06:41 PM

Couldn't stand mine either, since we're talking about **** that don't matter.

wow no one. Ok I will start. Wich one rides better the airone or the bar stool?

Scrodzilla 03-19-13 06:51 PM

I'd rather ride a bar stool.

Upside down bar stool for Scrod.

SpeshulEd 03-19-13 07:17 PM

I lost my front tooth to a flying bar stool. No joke. Ended up being about $4k in dental costs because I didn't have dental insurance at the time.

various styles 03-19-13 07:25 PM

That must have been a hell of a fight if bar stools are flying around.

i missed out on that, they got sold.
i found another wheelset: Velocity Deep -V
am told they are: like new painted flat black (silver under the paint), rides very smooth they have quando hubs
one spoke is bent, you can see it in the picture, and im told it dose not effect the ride and they dont need to be trued.
what do you guys think?
this is for my fixed gear & i use the brakes..so im sure the paint will come off quick.
i talked him down to $60 for the set.

All this talk about Brooks and bar stools lead me to this. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=305561http://www.selectism.com/2009/10/13/...e-seat-stools/

Man I took this thread way off track.

Jaytron 03-19-13 07:32 PM

Arione works for me. I tested quite a few saddles and ended up coming back to the Arione.

For instance, everyone loves the Turbo, but for 50+mi rides it was absolutely painful for me.

Those are NOT Velocity Deep V rims. Deep Vs don't have a ridge around the brake surface and are not that deep.

Also, those Quando hubs are crap.

Quando's usually come with crappy pre-built bikes.
