Sould I put mustache bars on my Fuji? The top tube is short and I think the longer reach of the new bars might make the ride more comfortable, even though I lose a hand position.

You don't lose hand positions. There are so damn many hand positions on mustache bars, and the hoods are one of my favorites.

I say do it.

New option for rims on the caad.
KinLin CX-279:

H+Son Archetype:

KinLin:
Pros: deeper. non anodized brake track, more aero shape
cons: pinned seam

Archetype:
Pros: welded seam, slightly lighter.
cons: anodized brake track

The kinlin seems to get really great reviews. Any one have thoughts/experiences with it?
I'm thinking 24/32, 2x lasers front, 3x races rear, to some taiwanese hubs.

striknein 03-21-13 01:01 PM

I prefer the rounded look of the kinlins, but I also like the aesthetic of the archetype's brake surface. That's a tough one.

What bike?

Same here. But my issue with the anodizing is it will look like junk after a thousand miles, so I might as well just have them silver from the start.

And I say Archetypes just cause they look rad.

Nagrom_ 03-21-13 01:10 PM

They'll end up looking like this for the majority of their lives:

Kinda janky...

Leukybear 03-21-13 01:11 PM

They look good to me.... I say go for it. Radial front of course.

Mumonkan 03-21-13 01:13 PM

Archetypes and superfine grit sandpaper to make it clean from the start?

Nagrom_ 03-21-13 01:16 PM

But it looks so ugly.

mmmmmmmmmmm, pulse-y brakes.

seau grateau 03-21-13 01:20 PM

Gotta be black? Polished silver Archetypes might look kinda cool.

Nagrom_ 03-21-13 01:21 PM

The last thing I need in my stable is more polished hoops.

seau grateau 03-21-13 01:24 PM

but...shiny

Nagrom_ 03-21-13 01:26 PM

I have more shiny than anyone should ever have.

calv 03-21-13 01:26 PM

Morgan I think that looks fine to me. You're over thinking this ****. Just get them.

Nagrom_ 03-21-13 01:29 PM

But I can't just do it, lol.

I'm gonna be one of those guys who asks for opinions, and then does what he wants.

111.5 gram Shimano 600 OR 160 gram Campagnolo headset for the Free Spirit?

Unfortunately I don't have the OG Campy locknut. :(
Also do not have tool for Shimano but love buying tools for one or two lifetime uses.

Should I build Archetypes to Suzues with Sapim spokes and nipples for my next bike (Wabi)?

Ummm go with whatever you feel looks best on a classic bike. Campy always takes the cake in that apartment!

You shouldn't be worrying about weight on that of all framesets...

LesterOfPuppets 03-21-13 07:51 PM

I can't help but weight ween even 24 pound HiTen fixies. The Campy would be 10x better-looking, though...

You don't like having that extra hand position?

Should I n+1 for an On One Pompino frame and build it up from scratch?

TMonk 03-21-13 09:26 PM

fwiw i used to own a set of custom wheels w different kinlin rims (xr 270) and they rocked. kinlin always be high on my list when considering rims for custom road builds.

For that price I would get a modern complete bike.

SpeshulEd 03-22-13 07:44 PM

Should I get m530 pedals and mtb shoes for the road bike when I commute or should I stick with my 105 PD-5700 SPD-SL and road shoes and just get used to clipping in and out at every stop light?

The 105 and road shoes are new but there's a pair of pedals and shoes in the road section for $100 that would work for me.
