This is the first thread I've resurrected from page 2.

Should I buy these wheels? Wondering what my chances of survival are here.

So cheap.... I doubt they'll explode and kill you. If I were you and needed some affordable carbon clinching goodness I would go for it.
And don't worry if they happen to kill you we won't make a SS/FG-wide buffoonery of you. We'll all be very, very, saddd. /feels bad bro cuz my bro died cuz of china carbon sad.

To y - foil or not to y - foil? The decision of which will be an arduous trek.
On another note, it really helps to have connections, a cycling buddy's friend of a relative has one in new years resolution/ collectors condition in my size that he wants gone.
I always struggle at these want vs. need 1st world problems.

Should I sell my fixed gear to save up and get a nice road bike?!

On the fence about selling my fixed gear to save up and get a nice road bike! I really like it, but think I could put more miles on a road bike. Should I just sell the frame and components and save the wheels to make a conversion later? or should I just wait and save up and keep both bikes? I built this baby up myself and am sad to see it go, even though it is just an Origin 8 Del pasado... Should I just get drops and brakes+hoods?!http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=253718

Those real used DA ones from eBay, or a nice used set?

Kilo TT Pro, after a make over mind you.

TheRealFaux 06-12-12 01:03 PM

dura ace all day errday

ddeadserious 06-12-12 01:05 PM

I've been happy with my Omniums, but not thrilled with them. I had to file the back of the spiders because the thickness was not uniform(I had a set I returned to Scrod prior that was seriously bad), and I managed to flex the DS crankarm 5-7mm into the chainstay. I wouldn't buy Omniums again, I'd probably go with Dura Ace just to try something new. They're a track standard and there is a reason for it.

Nagrom_ 06-12-12 01:05 PM

But I kinda want new... That's where I'm torn.

hairnet 06-12-12 01:13 PM

Which model of DA anyway?

Nagrom_ 06-12-12 01:17 PM

7710

yummygooey 06-12-12 01:24 PM

There was a DA crankset on the paceline forum for $250 shipped. Looked real good. Not sure if it's still there, but it was recent.

hamfoh 06-13-12 01:11 AM

should I use a Thomson Elite (silver-- pictured) or a 3T Seatpost (black with white decal) for an all black with pink decal roadie?

imagine this with pink tape (don't worry the reflector is long gone... as is the concor --- LEUKY!)

linus 06-14-12 08:15 AM

Thomson black

prooftheory 06-14-12 08:20 AM

I like it as it is.

Nagrom_ 06-14-12 10:42 AM

I say silver stem, if anything.

Scrodzilla 06-14-12 10:58 AM

+1

Should I do white tires/seat/handlebar wraps?

Also a 700c track fork?(this is a 27'' wheel fixie)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...084478_n-1.jpg

ddeadserious 06-14-12 02:00 PM

I think the brown saddle would look good with brown bar wrap and your current tires.

Why would you get a 700C fork for you 27" wheels? That doesn't make sense to me.

Also, I think you should install real brakes if you're not riding fixed. If you are riding fixed, you should get foot retention.

Nagrom_ 06-14-12 02:04 PM

Some vintage brake hoods, with two brakes, would look classy as hell on that.

Keep your fork, brown bar tape.
