Sure? They are pretty different wheelsets. I think it's unfair to judge a wheelset based solely on its weight/price ratio.
I got mine for free, so I am a little biased. |

I sure hope they don't; lebron is a (4 lettered slag term for male reproductive system) and I want to see his face when he doesn't get that ring when it was so close within his reach.

I want to see them get 3 up, and then swept. The look on his face will be even better.

Borrowed the wheel set from my Kagero to test my newly built 722.
Planning on going with a Sun CR18 wheel set from velomine with 32C Pasela Tourguards. Should I get silver rims and hubs, or black rims and hubs? The wheels will have silver spokes either way. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/79823424.jpg |
Black looks good. If you went silver, I think the chrome accents from the crank/fork/chain would stop looking like accents, and it would just look mixed up.

I'm about to get rid of my cheapo kalloy post but i've been conflicted for the longest time. Should I get a silver post or another black one? Sorry for the crappy pic.

Black, everything else is black. The silver seat collar brings out enough silver so that the cranks don't look bad.
Gotta keep the black/silver balance. |

Black wheels look good. Black rims with gumwalls FTW. :thumb: |
silver rims/hubs IMO :p
|
If he had a silver stem, bars & seatpost, yes. Considering he does not...
|
It's mainly the black hubs w/ silver spokes combination. IMO, it just looks cheap and more pronounced coupled with the chrome fork. I'm all for black wheels and gumwalls, if they had a black rim/silver hub prebuilt set, I would've gotten those instead of the full silver set.
|
because you have so much black, I'd get the black rims and hubs. the silver spokes should be enough to balance it. perfect world would be silver hubs and black rims
|
That's racist
|
Thanks guys. Going to go with black rims/hubs. Hopefully the silver spokes tie it all together alright. I'd love to get black rims with silver spokes and silver hubs, I don't think I'm going to find a reasonably priced prebuilt set though.
@Scrod re:dropouts, I won't be running it like that, I just wanted to see it for visual reference and couldn't stand the idea of a saggy chain. I'll be running an 18T or 19T cog on the final setup so it'll be further forward and I'll shorten the chain if necessary. |
I've been itching for some gears for a bit, what do you guys think... The asking price is $600
Vintage Columbus steel Colnago. Red and chrome. Paint is chipped, and the Columbus decal is squished. Colnago decals look ok. Stamped Colnago on both chainstays, I believe this dates the frame to the early eighties. Mix of components. Campy seat post and rear hub. Shimano 600 crank, brakes and Dura Ace rear der. Braze on Campy front der. Front wheel is generic alloy. Unknown bb and hs. Needs gum hoods and bar tape. Tires are recent Specialized armadillo. Turbo saddle. This bike is a great restoration candidate. http://images.craigslist.org/5L85E15...6c75c410e8.jpg |
it can probably fetch 600 to the right person. beautiful frame, quality components. if it's something you're lusting after and have the money I don't see a problem. obviously I'd try to talk in down to 500 though. I'd mention that you're going to be throwing $100 at the bike right out the gate with tires/hoods/tape
|
I think I'm lusting after red, I mean it DOES make me faster. But srsly the last few bikes I've been eyeing are red. Anyways I have been wanting a gears for a bit and I've been trolling for the CL for a decent deal and this is really the first one to catch me attention. It might be a tad too big for me, so we'll see what happens.

I've never seen the Alien movies, and I seriously enjoyed Prometheus, especially after reading this: http://cavalorn.livejournal.com/584135.html#cutid1
Abe Lincoln looks good though. Six one, half dozen the other. Go see both. |

Should I admit to anyone on the 41 that I improved my ride with a wood spoon handle?

*Disclaimer: this post involves my White Industries ENO freewheel :p
Should I remove my ENO freewheel from the "spare" side of my hub now that I am riding FG instead of SS? I thought the ENO would be a nice "safety net" if I get in a jam (read: too wasted, lol) but in reality I'll probably never use it - so I'd rather not leave it on and wait for it to get stolen (or at the very least all grimey) for no reason. I was thinking a cheapy freewheel or a different size cog would be a better call. But I also try to live by the code of using the things I buy. No sense in owning a special/fancy/expensive part if it's just going to sit in a drawer, right? |

You're more likely to **** yourself or your bike up trying to do that wasted than just riding home. Riding fixed will feel like second nature in no time. I rode my geared bike to work this morning and OMG coasting felt so weird, as is what happens every time I switch between my bikes. |
Rode my sw8 fixxie all last week and totally derped it when I got back on my road bike.
