What do you mean? You're going to be clipping in and out regardless of mtb pedals or road pedals.
|
Yeah but I read life is easier with MTB pedals (can walk on them if needed), plus the pedals are double sided.
I should probably just suck it up and get used to the road pedals. |
Oh, that's what you mean. Many people choose mtb pedals to commute. I say go for it, although I don't know about M530's. M520's would be a great choice, very economical.
Simply put, if I had to go clipless, I would choose mtb pedals if I were doing a lot of city riding/commuting with the occasional long ride on the weekends or something. If my bike was set up to ride the distance on an at least semi-regular basis, then I would use road pedals. |
Hmm, I might do it. $100 doesn't seem bad for the combo.

Not so wise to buy shoes online without knowing how they will fit. I'm guilty of it
|
Alrighty then. Saved myself $150.
|
i bought my road shoes online and they fit perfectly, though i read numerous reviews that compared sizes with a specialized shoe i tried on
|
I skipped buying the shoes/pedals as well.
Instead I bought a new saddle, miller high life jersey, and another set of bibs. |
should i get a lezyne floor pump? opinions/reviews?
my crappy walmart pump sucks and airing my tires at 430 am isnt the best with my compressor |
Joe Blow Sport II

I picked up a pump at Dicks Sporting goods a while back, a Nishiki with a built in gauge. It was only like $25, too. Hasn't let me down yet.

my walmart one leaks unless i hold the hose at a specific angle so thats also annoying |

Mine is over three years old and I still love the damn thing. |
Any well-made floor pump should do the job just fine. Lezyne stuff looks cool though, so yeah get one.
|
I got a cheap one at dicks when I got my first bike with a presta valve 3 years ago.
still works and it sits outside all the time |
I have bought Time ROC ATAC pedals for with my Chrome Pro shoes, I'm currently in the process of buying proper cycling shoes for longer rides. Should I buy SPD shoes and ride with those or should buy SPD SL shoes and swap pedals for longer rides (once per week I'd think)?
Or can I buy SPD SL shoes and put my (SPD compatible) Time cleats on them until I can buy a second bike and have separate bikes for commuting and touring? |

Depending on the shoe you can. Some road shoes come with hole patterns for both 3 bolt cleats and 2 bolt cleats.
|
I had a pair of Gaernes that had 2, 3 and 4 bolt patterns.

Which?
These come immediately to mind because I saw them on an ad while browsing Craigslist. Diadora actually has one of two other "Road Shoes" that are compatible with 2 and 3 bolt cleats. |
