I've found the R400s feel more similar to Ergos than they do Brifters, which I probably should have said in my first post. Carry on.

speaking of which...

scrod, what's your opinion about geared road gruppos?

specifically, should i ditch my ultegra/DA mishmash of 6500 and 7700 for a campy centaur 10spd group?

i like the ultegra/da group right now but it's 9spd which is getting harder to find good chains for, and i like the idea of my cannondale having campy on it. however, i don't want to "spoil myself" as so many people justify not having campy because they want to still like other groups.

i'm also super into the idea of finding a used rival groupset.

or should i just stfu and ride?

In all honestly, I couldn't care less about gruppos or which one is "better". Sorry, man.

well i think i should just stfu and ride. sure it would be nice to have a real groupset that all matched and was cool or whatever but honestly my bike works and that's all that should matter, especially with the shiftyshifty.

canshiftdowantto.

i think i'm going to ride ftp to marymoor now.

I do believe that question is probably best answered by a different subforum.

Would using a fork designed for integrated headsets on a non-integrated headset function? Would it still accept the crown race or is there one built in or would it just not be compatable?

It would most likely work but look a little wonky. Depending on the fork and headset being used, you may run into some snags when it comes to the bottom bearing being sealed from water and such.

I remember ddeadserious had a carbon fork with an oversized crown on his 722TS and had an issue with a visible gap between the crown race and the bottom of the headset. Hopefully he'll see this and post a pic.

I just got my kmc 710sl but my park tool ct-3 won't seem to work, do I need a different chain tool or do I just suck?

I've said it a bunch of times before, I hate using a CT-3 on K710 chains. You can get it to work but using a Rivoli tool is much easier.

Right on. That's a great break for the money and I feel it's underrated and often overlooked/dismissed because it comes in pretty colors.

Yes I know I must be doing something wrong. It's not broken just bent. Should I be doing anything different than if I were using it on another chain? Or is it just brute force? Thanks Scrod.

You really don't need "brute force" to push the pin out of a K710. It's the same as any other chain, really. If you're bending or breaking chain tools, it's because the link wasn't properly aligned with the tool.

You're doing it wrong. I know exactly what you're doing (friend of mine did the same thing and had the same results):

Going from a 15t cog to an 18t, I don't have my bike here to look at it - am I going to need a bigger chain?

Haha, no I wasn't doing that. I think Scrod's right in that the pin wasn't aligned. I bent the handle because I was using pliers for more leverage. ID-10T error for sure...
