Terrible plan, dont do it.

Scrodzilla 03-28-12 09:23 PM

Agreed.

I wanted this kind of quill stem

http://www.retro-gression.com/produc...mic-quill-stem

Guess its 1'' though, so - ah well.

hairnet 03-29-12 01:15 AM

****, I bought a pretty cool stainless steel stem the co-op only to go home and findout it is 1 1/8. I had no idea this existed

six30nine 03-29-12 04:23 PM

Got any tips for getting bars straight after adjusting the stem/spacers? They always look straight when I set them up, but I usually have to stop and tweak them when I start riding and discover they're a little crooked.

Scrodzilla 03-29-12 09:07 PM

Get degree in Advanced Rocket Science. Straighten bars. Profit.

Deciding on pedals. Track pedals, and clips or clipless?

gigantor 03-29-12 09:49 PM

Building a sw8 fixay for up to 50 mile rides with climbing. Already have mavic open pros / formula hubs.

Leader 722ts or mash bolt? My heart is already set on the bolt, but your opinion is welcome.

For what type of riding?

Hard to say. Those two frames are ridiculously different from one another and it all depends on how you're planning on setting each one up.

gigantor 03-29-12 09:56 PM

Regardless of frame, the bike will be setup just like my road bike's measurements with SRAM 900 brake levers and compact road drops, similar to Jaytron's bike.

Street, to/from work, around town, but still putting some distance around town (30 miles max?).

I can't make that decision for you. My Kagero and my 722TS are very different bikes setup for different things and I can't imagine one being good for the other purpose.

I still prefer clips and good double straps. However, my century rides this year will most likely be done clipless.

Thanks. I'll see what track pedals my LBS has, if not I'll check online. Probably not a good selection.

You own a Kagero! Pretty similar to the bolt - what do you use this bike for? What do you use your 722TS for? Which would you take on a long 50 miler?

Scrodzilla 03-29-12 10:07 PM

Check the pedalroom links in my sig.

My 722 is for cruising around town and short distances, where my Kagero is more for when I want to get out there and really go. Not saying one can't be good for the other, just not the way I've got them set up.

Last year's longer rides and centuries were done on my Leader 725, this year's will be done on the Kagero (unless I get my Bare Knuckle built up in time).

VERY nice Kagero. If you say you can put down a century on the Kagero and it feels ok, and you've done one on your 725, I feel much better about going with a bolt. :thumb:

One more time. Looking at a cheap bullhorn for a starter, and a front brake. Would these brake levers work on the Origin-8 bullhorn bars?

I saw the clamp size on the brake levers was 22.2, can't find anything on the bullhorns. Also looks like I need an adapter for the levers, to snap into the end of the bullhorns?

Nagrom_ 03-30-12 12:03 AM

Why are you gonna put 40 dollar levers on 20 dollar bars?

Haven't tried bullhorns yet, after I have and/if I like them, then I'll drop money on better bars. I could just get a normal cross lever for the mean time.

Shoot, I have $400 levers on my $30 bar

Dura Ace I assume? I also assume you're not "just trying them out"?

And if you don't like them, you've got a set of $40 paperweights.

Get these levers: http://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...4&category=615

You don't need an adapter for them. Actually I have a spare one left over from my build that I'd sell you for cheap~
