Dear Scrod,
now that you are selling the pake french, i would like to hear your opinions on it if you have any. I am thinking about making this my new build. its hard to find informed opinions on this frame, but it seems pretty nice. and if its as resilient as the rum runner, then i would be real happy. |
I think the French 75 - and Pake frames in general - are considerably better than most people give them credit for.
My only beef with the French 75 is the single-sided dropouts, but that's a relatively minor complaint. Overall quality is quite good, the welds look tidy, the included carbon fork is above average and the finish looks great. I've considered building one up for myself but already have an aluminum bike I like very much and can't really justify having two bikes that would be built up so similarly. |

I think it's really weird that we're not seeing more of them.
I think a lot of people just dismiss Pake as a cheapo frame but overall quality of both the Rum Runner and the French 75 is extremely consistent. |
Dear Scrod,
This is a road forum cross post, but I was hoping you could help me out. Do you know of a fork similar to the ENVE Road 2.0 fork (http://www.enve.com/forks/2.0.aspx) that comes with a 1" steerer? So some sort of oversized carbon fork with straight edges. Thanks! |

Bummer... thanks for looking! I would imagine there isn't a way to use a 1 1/8" fork on a 1" head tube, right?

My bad rasta, tracking number got emailed long ago. Good looking out.
|
Jucifer doesn't even sound reggae nor ska. Odd.

Calling people rasta, yay or a nay? Recently when Angie and I were in West Palm Beach, we encountered this reggae dude named Prince Thompson who ran across the street yelling "Rasta! Rasta people make the world go 'round!" and invited us to a show he was playing in town. We ended up having a couple of beers with him and talked about a lot of really cool ****. |

Wouldn't this be the same as calling someone with a buzz or shaved head "skinhead" in some "I'm just trying to get a rise out of you" sort of menacing way?

I'm pretty sure those are long gone.

Dear Scrod
Do you prefer riding alone or in a group? |
It really depends on the situation. Sometimes riding in a group is fun and other times, it's a complete cluster****.
Typically, I prefer going out alone or with Angie. |
I'm picking up the last parts to finish my RG Excel and ii have a couple questions.
I want to fully put it together myself without taking it to a lbs and pops has most of the tools needed except for a lockring wrench and bb tool, which i will get from you. but i was wondering if theres any prep i have to do on the frame for the bb and headset? I'm putting sram s300 on it do i have to get the bottom bracket faced and chased? the headset is a vp comp from Rg do i have to do anything to the head tube? or can i just press it in |
Scrod! One of evilcryalotmores friends built an Excel!
http://www.pedalroom.com/p/andrea-20-5608_1.jpg Do you think it'll get a movie? Maybe evil himself will ride it? Who knows? |
While I don't approve of that gear ratio on a brakeless "commuter", I do think it's a decent looking bike.
