I just wrapped an extra length of Lizard Skins around one of the bends on MASH 'horns and didn't have much trouble. I had to overlap it quite a bit but it didn't look gross or anything. It would've been even easier with cork tape, which has a little more stretch to it.
Personally, I wouldn't go for red tape but that's just me... |
Alright cool, thanks man.
|
dear scrod,
what is your best selling frame size? thanx... |
53-55cm seems to be the most popular size range.
|
Scrod... Are all kilo tt bottom brackets the same size or do I need to get my frame first to make sure I get the right one?
|
The Kilo TT - like most modern "track" frames - has a 68mm English-threaded BB shell. What spindle length/type you choose depends on what crankset you'll be using.
|
It's going to be about 75 today.
Usually I just suck it up and deal with carrying a backpack with my school **** into town, but today I can't be the sweaty mess I usually am when I make it into town and up the hill to school. Last night I found a rack and pair of panniers in my garage. Should I make the effort to mount them on my 'Cross bike for the 15mi ride into school and other appointments or should I just suck it up and deal like I have been? |
I used to live in Ithaca know how gnarly some of those hills are. My vote is for the rack.
|
scrod what do you think of this frame?

I don't think of that frame.
|
Dear scrod, what size seat post clamp does the Excel frame take? My frame arrived yesterday but no seat clamp :/
|

The carbon Planet X looks pretty sharp, and is only a couple hundred more. Save for it if you're really considering getting a track bike.
If its not for the track, just get a 735 and call it a day. /notscord |
Which means unless youre moving soon, its not worth getting.

Hi, it is me again with my "BB knocking".. Thank you for your previous replies and patience.
I've tried to change pedals, played with chain tension... even lubricated it... Scrod, is it possible that my BB spindle is a little longer and chainline is a little bit off..(visually it is hard to say... for me at least) . I noticed, while cranksets are the same on Langster and Kilo, that spindle on Kilo is shorter and I did not measure BB shells precisely but they look the same width.. Is it possible or known case ? Thanks in advance. |
Im looking into fixed gear bikes for a friend of mine and i saw this on craigslist and i know youre fairly knowledgable about leaders and bikes in general. So how much do you think this bike is worth? or i should ask what kind of offer would you give him?

In all honesty, the $420 asking price isn't out of line for that 722 and it's tastefully built. Try to find out what wheels are on it.

notscrod but... are you running fixed or freewheel?
|
It is Sugino RD2. No, it is not at the same time or place of rotation. It is totally random. I can have 2-3 "clicks" on one full spin or none at all.
Also, I'm having problems to tell what speed or cadence it's happening a most. May be I need a doctor... to treat my anxiety. But on Kilo I do not hear anything. Today is rainy but tomorrow I will try to swap the wheels I'm running the freewheel .. and it is Shimano...if it matters. |
Of the times I've experienced random "clicking", twice it turned out to be crappy GXP bottom brackets. The others times, it was the chain. Because you're using a freewheel, I'm thinking that could be the culprit as well. Try listening close to the rear wheel.
I'm assuming you've checked to make sure all your chainring bolts are tight. Does this happen while the bike is on the repair stand as well as while riding? Also, RD2 chainrings are notoriously not the roundest rings out there. My old RD2s had one spot where the chain would bind and make all kinds of unhappy noises if my chain tension wasn't just right. |
Again, notscrod... but I blew up three MX30 freewheels before finally wising up and flipping the wheel. Each time, they'd start to knock in a very rhythmic fashion, but intermittently.
|
Thank you Scrod. You gave me more than enough material to work with.
I will do my home work. |
