Dear Scrod,
I just bought a Selle Turbo saddle and I have heard mixed reviews concerning the dye bleeding onto the riders pants/shorts. Is this also your experience with this saddle?

It's really gonna depend on what you wear too though.

I rocked some grey Chrome knickers and they got a little marked up. But they got marked up by a lot of different saddles. I didn't care, but do keep that in mind. Definitely not enough to turn me off of the Turbo. Great looking, quality saddle.

hamfoh 10-17-12 10:19 AM

what rimtape are you using for your a23s?

Scrodzilla 10-17-12 11:39 AM

VeloPlugs.

17mm Velox works nicely too.

hamfoh 10-17-12 11:43 AM

is there a veloplug that fits h+son that you know of? I tried some on a previous set (formation face I think) and they no likey the drillings

I'm curious about this too, I've got an archetype on the way and would like to use them.

Nagrom_ 10-17-12 09:51 PM

Reds didn't work on my FF's for what its's worth.

Scrod,
Been on the lookout for a decent crankset used on ebay/craigslist. I see some DuraAce, Campy and Sugino 75 cranksets minus the chainring in the 100-150 range. Am I missing something or is there a reason to stay away from buying used cranks or any particular models of those makes? It seems strange to see Sram 300 for a similar price range when the Dura And Campy items are treated like unicorn horn.

Or if you have any informative links. Sanity check:twitchy:

Scrodzilla 10-22-12 09:49 AM

You need to be careful when buying used cranks sight unseen because the BB interface or pedal threads (or both) could be damaged.

If you're not stuck on 144, go with the s300's. I have a pair on my ftp that I haven't gotten an opportunity to ride that much, but they're solid for what they are.

Got mine for $100 when I bought them a while ago too.

whats the difference between a gtb and a pulse (frame) ?

Scrodzilla 10-22-12 08:07 PM

I'm honestly not sure and I've never bothered to look it up. Frame material maybe?

wicked ink 10-22-12 08:18 PM

GTB is made of 7005 aluminum vs high grade Easton tubing for the Pulse. GTB's made in Taiwan and Pulse in the US. Also, the Pulse comes with Kinesis fork as oppose to the Tange one that comes on the GTB.

Mumonkan 10-22-12 08:53 PM

thanks,

bikepedia says one has 7000 series aluminum and the other has 7005 series aluminum, and one cost 3x as more
but thats not exactly helpful lol

Adrian_ 10-22-12 09:07 PM

Pulse is stiffer and has tighter geo.

Sun m13 or cr18 wheel set with formula hubs from velomine?

Only real world difference is the cr18's 22.5mm wide. Should I get them and run 23c tires to see what the wide rim craze is about? Or are the m13's better?

Scrodzilla 10-23-12 06:54 AM

CR18s are also considerably heavier. Personally, I'd go with M13s.

The pulse has better tubing, a fancier fork, is made in the US, and will cost a lot more.

About a month ago, I had the choice of getting a complete GTB at a decent price or an incomplete Pulse for twice as much.

Went with the GTB. If you're riding on the street, all the "weight savings", " extra stiffness", and other silliness make zero difference.

If you're racing, there are better, newer options than a Pulse.
