My butt would prefer the Brooks. YBMV.

This is kind of aimed at you scrod but figured since there are /not scords as well, its better i ask here than make a new thread.

I run a specialized toupe expert which i love, ive found a good setting for it but when im commuting with backpack to work with extra weight it becomes slightly uncomfy over 10 miles sometimes. If its just me its perfect, Im looking for a similiar saddle with a bit of extra weight it wont become uncomfy during commutes.

I understand saddles are a very personal thing but i was hoping you or a /notscrod could point me in the direction of something very similiar but with a bit more padding for extra weight

Scrodzilla 09-27-12 06:19 AM

I'm leaving that one to the /notscrods.

GENESTARWIND 09-27-12 06:22 AM

lol how come? is it a dumb question or that you just arent familiar with saddles similar to toupe expert?

not trying to offend... curious is all

Scrodzilla 09-27-12 06:25 AM

For the same reason I can't tell you what tastes good despite knowing what I like to eat.

GENESTARWIND 09-27-12 06:32 AM

:/ i wasnt trying to ask a dumb question sorry.

was just hoping there was a saddle like the toupe expert but with a bit more cushion is all.

Scrodzilla 09-27-12 06:48 AM

I wasn't implying that you asked a dumb question. I just don't have a definitive answer for you.

Toupe gel? I remember the specialized site saying it was padded more than the standard saddles.

GENESTARWIND 09-27-12 06:51 AM

oh ok, sorry sometimes youre hard to judge.

Dear Scrod-

Why do so many rodents have references to pigs in their names?

GroundHOG

Guinea PIG

HAMster

HedgeHOG

PORC
upine (maybe that ones a stretch)

I just don’t understand.

I had the same issue. Look at the Toupe Gel or the Specialized Riva Road.

I liked the Toupe Gel a lot but it was really too expensive for me so I bought the Riva and have no problems riding up to 6-7+ hours. It's not listed on the Specialized site anymore but it's OEM for quite a few bikes so if you call/email they may still sell you one. Price should be around $40 new, $15ish dollars used.

Scrod, do you think 48:14 would actually damage my knees? I've been riding 48:15 for a hot minute now, and feel great and no knee pain. I plan to stretch before/after rides.

Is the GXP BB that comes with the Omnium crankset the same as the one for the S300, or is there a difference, quality-wise?

I forget.

I'm not really sure. The cups look different and I haven't heard anyone complaining about the S300 BB like I have about Omniums.

calv 09-28-12 04:00 PM

I wonder what would happen if you used a GXP BB from S300's and just put Omniums on there. Maybe you would have had a way better experience.

Scrodzilla 09-28-12 04:03 PM

That's exactly what Angie did on her 721.

NateRod 09-28-12 04:26 PM

****. I may just do that too.

eyeomegasquared 09-29-12 01:30 AM

Scrod,

What tire levers do you recommend? I just broke one of mine and I need new ones.

Scrodzilla 09-29-12 08:04 AM

That's pretty vague.

striknein 09-29-12 08:25 AM

Actually, I've got the same question in mind. Are there decent ones for carry that won't break after five uses? And what do you have in the shop? I've been considering the 3Wrencho, but I'm concerned about whether I'll be able to use the wrench in the dropouts of the Retro. I like multi-use tools, as long as they make sense.

I don't know how to be any more specific. I just need some quality tire levers for changing...tires. Does the choice of lever depend on the tire? If so, I want something universal for changing all kinds of tires.

Scrodzilla 09-29-12 08:46 AM

For some reason, I read brake levers.

At the shop, I use Pedros levers and have never broken one.

Ah, excellent. I'll get those. Thanks.

ben4345 09-29-12 03:50 PM

scrod, do you drink beer? If so, what is your beer of choice?

Dawes_Dave 09-29-12 05:41 PM
