hey Scrod,
What do you think of the Alex R450 wheelset that you are selling? They seem pretty nice for what they are. I was gonna build up a se of Velocity Aeros, but just moved somewhere nicer and can not afford to do that right now. They will most likely be an improvement over the dp18s I have on now yeah? thanks

The R450/Formulas are nice but the AT450/Novatecs are a little nicer, lighter and have eyelets.

also, what do you think of the Fyxation Comet bars? I like the shallow drop they have compared to other track bars

I recently put a set on a bike I built for a customer (even though I tried to sway him into compact drops) and while I'm not much of a fan of track drops, they seem decent.

I would go with the AT400s on your site, but prefer the look of the non machined sidewalls on the R450s. And I did not see any AT450s on your site?

Scrodzilla 09-14-12 07:25 AM

Typo. I meant AT400s.

NateRod 09-14-12 09:01 AM

Fyxation rodeo pursuit bars... any opinions on those?

You know I was always an rb021 guy. How do they compare?

Scrodzilla 09-14-12 09:10 AM

They're good. Not as much drop as RBB-021s. The 31.8 version is really stiff.

Damn it! I just bought the 25.4's I wish I had known there was a 31.8 version. Maybe next time.

I have the 25.4 bars in both the pursuit and non pursuit version. I like both quite a bit, still trying to decide which I want to run full time. Leaning towards putting the pursuits on my geared road bike, and leaving the non drops on the my FG. The drop on the pursuits is really subtle, which I like.

What do you think is a good budget commute bike I can purchase? I'm around 5`2 in height.

Thanks Scrod!

Edit: Failed lol

Lol sorry, fixed it

ben4345 09-15-12 03:05 AM

Would the kilo tt PRo make a good commuter bike? (Commutes <15 miles)

Scrodzilla 09-15-12 06:12 AM

Hasn't this stuff been talked about enough on this forum? I honestly can't offer anything that hasn't been said a thousand times over.

Also, please lose the sig.

eyeomegasquared 09-15-12 06:18 AM

Scrod,

What do you think about taking a steel track frame, cold setting the track fork end spacing to 135mm, and putting an IGH on it? Will it work well?

ben4345 09-15-12 01:59 PM

Sorry, about the sig, I thought you'd find it amusing.

Scrodzilla 09-15-12 02:03 PM

There is an entire thread dedicated to the Kilo TT, including the Kilo TT Pro.

Good enough for me.

Are Lizardskins ok for removal and reuse? I might have to take off my tape and it would suck if this stuff is one time use.

Why not just get an IGH that's already 120mm spacing? New Sturmey-Archer S3X (3-speed fixed gear) hubs are made in 120mm OLD, and vintage Sturmey-Archer "AW" 3-speed hubs in 120mm OLD are abundant, inexpensive, and indestructible.

Some people say yes and I've had pretty good luck with unwrapping it but have never tried reusing it. You most likely can if you didn't stretch it too much when putting it on.

Muffin Man 09-15-12 06:19 PM

I think I stretched mine out a little too much, buut I like where its at now. Except its yellowed and kinda gross now... I should probably wash it and see if that helps...
