If you really want them just save a little more money. It'll be worth it (probably).

Scrodzilla 06-08-12 03:02 PM

Honestly, I say sell your Formula hubs for whatever you can get for them and buy a complete wheelset from VeloMine or you're going to spend way too much money having a mid-grade rim laced to your mid-grade hubs.

Also, the Alex R450/Formulas we have in stock are decent. I'd ride them.

There's the Sun me14a.

Scrodzilla 06-08-12 03:31 PM

He wants non-machined sidewalls.

8bits 06-08-12 03:56 PM

Si.

8bits 06-08-12 04:11 PM

Nice!
And their advertised thickness are spot on? Or something like rando's that are in fact thinner.

Regular Paselas are pretty true to size but the TGs run a little smaller. When I had 25s on my gold 722, they measured just under 24mm wide.

GENESTARWIND 06-08-12 05:41 PM

ird cadence???

Scrodzilla 06-08-12 05:45 PM

I know I can order them from Merry Sales (Somafab/IRD) but I've never even see them in real life.

They've got machined sidewalls though.

GENESTARWIND 06-08-12 05:50 PM

oh.

herm.

Nagrom_ 06-08-12 05:51 PM

Opinions on Soma 456's?

Scrodzilla 06-08-12 05:53 PM

We ordered some for a customer recently and they seem decent if you're looking for cro-mo track drops without shelling out Nitto dollars.

I was just going to ask about them compared to Nittos. Thanks. I'll keep them in mind.

How do you like the B123-AA's? Are they as stiff as the cro mo B123's?

Scrodzilla 06-08-12 06:05 PM

The only ones I've ever ridden with are the 31.8 version (on a customer's bike) and they were stiff as hell.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. score.

calv 06-09-12 12:10 AM

I got a guy from eBay asking if I will ship to Malaysia.. Would shipping be a total *****? More than $40 I'm assuming..

and I also got another eBay msg asking if a guy wanted to trade his two Velocity B43's with origin 8 hubs. Now I see what you mean by those questions you got.

Scrodzilla 06-09-12 05:32 AM

Shipping via Priority Mail International will be about a hundred bucks and you'll only be able to insure it for $500. Other carriers will be much more expensive. If he's willing to pay it and understands that you won't be able to insure the full amount, pack it up exceptionally well and ship it.

Mumonkan 06-09-12 07:37 AM

i just read this neat little thing about packing bikes up here

iduno about cutting the box up and all that but i like the cardboard frame spacer idea

scrod: would A23's with 20 spokes in front and 24 in back be too fragile for my 170lb body? are lasers and bladed spokes comparably strong?

Scrodzilla 06-09-12 08:05 AM

That's a good article.

I think those wheels will be fine if built properly. Personally, I think bladed spokes are overkill unless you're racing. Sapim Lasers are the bomb.

Mumonkan 06-09-12 08:29 AM

excellent. i guess the only reason id want either is for style points, was just curious of their strengths
i like the lasers cuz they look really thin and "precisiony" and i also like the bladed spokes when they catch the light, they dazzle me

novatecs dont come in 20/24h do they? i dont know if id wanna spend $150 per hub to go on my 722 for phil woods

Scrodzilla 06-09-12 08:33 AM

They do. I'd need to source them from Taiwan though.

Mumonkan 06-09-12 08:44 AM

ooh, would they still cost the same or does Taiwan incur a premium?

Neato article; thanks for sharing.

UCF Eric 06-09-12 01:19 PM

Scrod, in my attempts to find a solution to my too large frame, I found this. What would be a safe price to pay for this? http://velospace.org/node/33698

The only thing that isn't top dollar on that bike is the wheelset, stem, and pedals.

$200 crankset
$50 chainring
$80 seatpost
$120 headset
$70 bars (nitto's, not the integrated aero crap, you don't want those.)
$50 brake set
$200 saddle
$130 ceramic BB
$30 cog
$40 pedals
$25 stem
$40 tires (each)
$120 wheelset
$700 frame

Its used though. But that should help you think of a number.
