Hey scrod, I was experimenting with a couple of gear ratios after installing a fresh chain and found one that slams my rear wheel entirely into the track end to the point that the chain keeps a decent tension by itself without any need for additional modulation on my part because I kept the chain at the same length as the previous ratio. Should I add a link back into the chain?

Miche Primato/Advanced Track Crankset thoughts? Going back and forth on those and the SRAM Ominiums. I'd be tempted to try the Omniums, but I hate the GXP bb that came with my S300's. A great tech at my LBS really suggests to try the Miche's, and I might. Looking for more opinions.

Should I just build a 2nd fixed gear instead of a road bike?
|
Question in regards to gilligan's island,
I know gilligan was useless, so won't put him into play, but... Between The Skipper and The Professor, wouldn't they have figured out how to fix that dang boat, thus avoiding years of failed attempts? |

What don't you like about the miche bb? The gxp one is so grindy
|
In my experience, the adjustable cup doesn't like to stay tight. I bike at the old shop where I worked had one that I was constantly fiddling with. No thanks.
Just get Sugino 75s, a ProType BB and be done with it. If you're hung up on wanting Miche cranks, Token makes a 68x107mm ISO cartridge BB. |
Even a used sugino 75 crank set, chain ring and Bob is just tooexpensive right now. I could do the ring and cranks, but the Bob is like 80 used

The extra brake's bolt I have is a little short for my new carbon fork, so I'm guessing I need a 43-57mm? (Going off the two Dia Compe sizes you have stocked).
|
That measurement refers to the reach of the brake caliper, not the length of the bolt. Go to a bike shop and get a longer recessed nut.

/notscrod I like the 930 as a fixed gear. |
Scrod,
I want a front rack for my 722. I'd like something minimal, chrome, and that isn't stupid heavy. I was looking at the Nitto M18 but was wondering if there was anything else I should look at. Suggestions, thoughts? |
I'm pretty sure Soma makes a couple of different options. I'll look around and get back to you tomorrow.

I can cut a carbon steerer the same way I cut a metal one, correct?
hacksaw + cut guide? |
no, the blade will rip the fibers. use a cutting guide, clamp the steerer down very lightly and use a carbon specific blade such as http://www.carbonmods.co.uk/products...ade__hs12.aspx
Here is another page that might be of interest. http://velonews.competitor.com/2009/...on-tubes_98870 |

I like the Brooks Team Pro but that doesn't mean you will. Buying a saddle you've never tried before online is risky.
