That is super weird. Maybe the pump was broken somehow.

I and most of a touring group I rode with used Road Morphs, and we've never had that problem.

I would not want to use a Road Morph as my main pump just because I don't have any upper body strength.

Mine gets sorta hot when I'm pumping to over 100psi, but not so much to burn or anything.

As far as using the Road Morph as my main pump: I figure if it starts getting too difficult, it means I'm really slacking on the push-ups...

i have a crappy little bell frame pump that maxes out at 100something psi, and it gets hot and rubbery if i go too fast at the high end

the faster air is compressed the hotter it gets, like a diesel engine. the same principle can be applied to fire making:

I have the topeak pocket rocket master blaster. It gets pretty warm when topping my tires off.

Dear scrod,

What would be a good thread to post this .gif in?

Because I find it hilarious, yet I haven't been able to find the proper home for it.

Thanks,
Dan.

Agreed. Or anywhere immediately following a post by evilcryalotmore, regardless of what he says.

Scrod,

Selling off some bike clutter that's accumulated in my garage over the last few years to fund a new wheel build. Up in the air between a chub or 105 front, or maybe if I'm feeling classy, lacing up a pro max. Hoop will be either an xr200 or 270, or an A23 (speaking of which, are these just being discontinued or are they actually going to send more of these back out on the market?)

Anyhow, Chub says not to radial lace their road hubs, have you ever built one up radial for a customer? (in before that one dude proceeds to rant about how his radially laced wheels are wobbly and unreliable, because his hands are too). I know it's not wise to go against manufacturers specs on something as vital as a wheel, but I'm just wondering if you have any firsthand experience with these hubs.

thanks in advance

Scrodzilla 08-08-12 07:21 PM

A23s are starting to trickle through again in some drillings. It shouldn't be long until they are fully restocked.

Regarding the Chub:

I've seen a few of them laced radially but have no direct experience with it. QBP is usually on point with their info though. You may want to contact The Hive just to be 100% certain.

Mumonkan 08-08-12 07:31 PM

in reference to A23's:

do you know if they are only going to make NMSW in black 32h again, or might there be more options this time?

Scrodzilla 08-08-12 07:33 PM

I have no idea but will find out.

chi0dos 08-08-12 07:34 PM

Scrod, I really dont know how to explain this but, when i try to tighten my rear wheel, the axel stays in place for one tightening it on the left side but when i get to the right nut it starts moving the left side hence making my rim not go straight. And I can untighten one side, but then the axle moves for the other with the nut but doesnt come lose. Hahaha sorry, its pretty hard to explain this. Basically, the rear hub axel moves when i try to tighten the wheel. What can i do to fix it?

Common problem. Put a drop of oil in between the nut and the spinning washer attached to it so it doesn't bind up while you're tightening them down (if you're not using track nuts with rotating washers, get them). Tighten the non-drive side first, then the drive side while holding the wheel straight. It sometimes helps to go back and forth from side to side, tightening each a little at a time.

chi0dos 08-08-12 10:18 PM

I dont know if this goes along with it, but when the wheel would be centered, after a skid or stop, the wheel would be a little to the right. Will that ^ solve it too?

Sounds like you aren't torquing your axle nuts enough.

+1.

What hub/axle nuts are you using?

chi0dos 08-09-12 11:19 AM

Thats the thing, im tightening it pretty hard. Forumla hubs and just regular axle nuts/washer

Scrodzilla 08-09-12 11:23 AM

If you're using nuts that look like these:
http://www.bikeman.com/store/graphic.../HU/HU7100.jpg
where the rotating washer is attached to the nut, HTFU.

If you're using separate nuts and washers, throw them in the trash and get what is pictured above.

Hey Scrod Im sure one of the main reasons you got rid of the kagero and went to the dodici is because the dodici is a custom fit and fits you better but other then that did you have any complaints about the kagero? probably the only leader frame i would buy. I really like the smooth clean look of it but im more interested in how they ride.

hamfoh 08-09-12 12:16 PM

any idea what the bcd of the chainrings are on bianchi pistas? I'm guessing 130bcd, but their site just says the size of the ring. friend has an older chrome model and wants to replace it

I loved my Kagero but it had a little too much saddle to bar drop for my liking. That's literally my only "complaint", and it has way more to do with my body and riding style than the frame.
