This isn't it either.

WHY ARE ALL YOUR PRICES SO AMAZING (DEALS TOO).

I'd love to support the bikeshops near me since I'd prefer not to go to big chain shops like Performance or places like that, only problem is they charge like double what you're offering for parts!

It's the fact that your shop is privately owned and that its got great prices which even with shipping still outbeat the shops near me.

Can you recommend a top tube protector? I have some really thick leather I could cut and sew onto the tube, but I think the color would clash with the rest of my bike. Ideally the thing wouldn't be very noticeable.

Let's run with this, I'm curious as to where you draw the line from fair to obscene.

Open a shop, then you tell me. You see the prices my shop charges. What more of an example do you really need?

MSRP and MAP policies exist for a reason.

I went down to my local craft store, bought the thickest piece of scrap leather I could find in a color that matched the bike, and 3ft of leather cord.

It was only like 6 bucks total. Came out real well, and is really unobtrusive.

Bull**** there's no way 3ft of leather cord is <16g

Nagrom_ 04-17-13 01:44 PM

I used no where near 3ft. More like a foot, if that.

So it was only -4g.

Scrodzilla 04-17-13 01:44 PM

negative 16g!

Nagrom_ 04-17-13 01:45 PM

My bike floats when I'm not on it.

Germany_chris 04-17-13 01:45 PM

You happen to know the BCD of the fine cranks (creaky boat anchors) that Trek put on my Earl? I'd like to put on some fine SRAM external bearing cranks I have because they'd match better, then I could move the Campy cranks from my parts bin to the Italian cross bike the GXP's are currently fitted on.

Ah cain't reed.

This is going to make my bike lighter? Mrs. Wentworth was right, arts & crafts really are cool!

I believe it's 130bcd. You could always measure.

You have a unique perspective that others on this forum do not have in regards to margins and profits but I think it's safe to say the majority of these dudes here would immediately cry ripoff if they found out exactly what kind of margin these cycling related companies were holding.

Without solid numbers and a business oriented perspective you shouldn't trash a company for making a profit. That kind of margin would be applauded in any other forum. What you call obscene markup is completely relative.

MAP policies and MSRP are to level the playing field in terms of dealers, not because they're afraid they will make too much money. That's why you'll often get inflated MSRP's while your cost remains the same.

ColonelJLloyd 04-17-13 02:01 PM

I don't visit this forum for Economics 101 talk.

That would imply that I have an instrument to measure with, and sadly that is not the case..

If you don't want to have a discussion about cost and markup try to avoid making rash statements about a business you're not involved in.

Yes, every company needs to make a profit to survive in any economy. However, Superb's markup - especially on rebranded products they claim to be their own - is much higher than it needs to be. They're selling hype and bull****.

This being said, if you want to be a Superb fanboy and support their overinflated prices, I'll still sleep soundly.

Obviously TylerMatthews has no connection with whatever shop it is most people on this site don't like. And he is not butt hurt about it at all.

I don't think he works there but he did pay too much for a Colossi Collosione.
