They have the freewheels that don't click-click-click.

Lester is right, they're running some kind of silent hub that is hard to get if your not connected with either the bike manufacturer or law enforcement (supposedly). /back to scrod |
i see "police" bikes all the time on CL, and it always makes me think of reno 911
|
ill be honest i dont know alot about headsets and crown races so i cant answer that question. but basically im just trying to start buying things up when i can afford for when BI restocks. I emailed them and they are supposed to be restocking soon.

Go with the technoglide scrod recommended.
I have one on my kilo, it's great. It's a little easy to lock up(but mine is threadless), but when its properly adjusted its amazing. |

Technoglide ftw.

There are some high end police bikes taht are really nice. They are overbuilt for most people's use, but still quite nice. Makes me think of Blues Brothers
"It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?" |

Just out of curiosity Scrod, would you ever build or work on a "suicide" hub for a customer?

Yeah, the black one (.127). If you're using black Polyax nipples, the green one (.130) won't scratch up the finish as much. |

Scrod I got a carbon fork with 9mm of axle space and I have a 10mm axle. Would it damage the fork a lot if I sanded out the 1mm? The drop outs or what not are aluminium. Thanks.

If the dropouts are aluminum, you'll be ok. Just be sure to file them evenly or your wheel will be crooked.

Thanks thats good it will work. It was an impulse buy for a 20 dollar aero fork.

im replacing my steel crankset, steel wheels, and steel seatpost for lighter, aluminum alloy ones.
i was wondering, im running 70 gear inches right now and its tough sometimes around here. i was thinking of switching to 65. my question is, if you have a heavier bike, does it feel like yr pushing more gear inches? if i put on all the alloy parts, will the 70 gi be easier to push around? very curious about this. |
Moving any heavier object will require more effort. Riding a heavier bike will feel like you're riding a heavier bike, not like you're pushing more gear inches. It may sometimes give a similar overall feeling (like when climbing a hill) but it's not the same.

hahaha no. flying pigeons are kinda sweet though. its an '81 schwinn world tourist singlespeed/coaster brake bike. swapping out the sprung saddle and northroad bars for road drops and a concor lookalike.
cool, i kinda figured that made sense. im probably going to run 17-44 on it. i had this dude on ebay that had 36h 27" alloy coaster brake back/QR front wheelsets for like $120, but he ran out of shimano coaster hubs and said he'd hit me up when he gets some more. when i get them i'm probably going to take them to my lbs to make sure theyre true and dont go out of true(flexing the spokes and stuff). im lazy, i just want a lighter bike cause i hate carrying the heavy ones up the stairs to my friends apartments haha edit - so it would be easier to pedal on the lighter bike. OK. this is very logical, and pretty much what i wanted to confirm haha. |
You're quick! I deleted my comment because I didn't know what thread I was in. Feelin' like Dan over here.
Also, scrod, It's gonna be christmas when I get home. |
Let me know if you have any trouble getting that wheelset. I may be able to work some magic.
|
word dude! yeah if he totally flakes ill hit you up.
everyone else is like, get 700s blah blah blah and im like bro, i want 27's nothing wrong with 700s, i just like 27s. |
